Overview
The Vimar VM14771 is a miniature E10 incandescent replacement lamp for illuminated switch modules and small indicator points on board, where a simple filament bulb is still the right fit. It is rated 24 V and 2 W, with a 10 x 28 mm envelope that fits tight switch plates, panel stations, and compact pilot-light housings.
This lamp emits white light and uses the common E10 screw base, so it can replace other E10 bulbs as long as the voltage, wattage, and physical size match your holder. On boats with 24 V service, it is typically used for backlit rocker switches, nav station panels, or equipment status lights where you want clean, readable illumination without worrying about polarity.
Key features
- E10 screw base for standard miniature lamp holders
- 24 V, 2 W rating for 24 V indicator and backlighting circuits
- 10 x 28 mm lamp size to suit compact switch and pilot-light spaces
- White light output for clear switch and label illumination
- Incandescent filament lamp style, so installation orientation does not matter
Compatibility and fit
Match three things before ordering: base type (E10), rated voltage (24 V), and the 10 x 28 mm size. If your current lamp is taller, shorter, or a different diameter, it can interfere with switch mechanisms or lens diffusers even when the base is the same.
This format is commonly used in modular switching systems that accept E10 illumination lamps, and it also fits other E10 holders where the same voltage and wattage are specified.
Installation and setup
Isolate power to the circuit, then remove the lens or device cover that provides access to the lamp holder. Thread the bulb in gently until it seats, then reassemble and test. Avoid overtightening, especially in small plastic holders.
After installation, confirm the lamp is not touching adjacent parts and that any diffuser or light window sits flat, so vibration does not work the bulb loose over time.
Use on board
This is a straightforward match for boats running 24 V service that still use incandescent switch illumination, including cruising sailboats, larger powerboats, and commercial installations with legacy panels. It also makes sense as a spare if your electrical panel relies on the same E10, 24 V, 2 W lamp for night readability.
Maintenance and care
Keep spares aboard if your switches depend on lamp illumination for night operation. If a lamp fails early, check for sustained overvoltage on the circuit and for moisture intrusion around the device cover.
