Overview
The Vimar VMV52412 is a flush-mount consumer unit mounting box with a vertically hinged transparent door, IP40 protection, and space for 12 modular devices on a single DIN rail. The enclosure measures 185 mm high, 285 mm wide, and 93 mm deep, with a built-in depth of 72 mm and an inner depth of 92 mm.
On a boat, this type of box is used to keep DIN-rail components tidy behind a clean door, so you can check switch and breaker positions without leaving the panel open. With an IP40 rating, it is meant for protected interior spaces where you want dust and accidental contact protection, not for lockers that see spray or washdowns.
Key features
- Flush-mounted enclosure for a cleaner, built-in look on bulkheads and interior panels
- Capacity for 12 modular spacings on 1 row
- Vertically hinged transparent door so the inside stays visible when closed
- IP40 protection for interior installations where water exposure is not expected
- DIN rail included for mounting standard modular devices
- Built-in depth 72 mm with 92 mm inner depth for cable bending room and device clearance
- RAL 9003 white finish for a neutral, clean panel appearance
Compatibility and fit
This box is sized for one row of up to 12 modular DIN-rail devices. Before ordering, check that your mounting surface can accept a flush enclosure of this footprint and that you have enough recess depth behind the panel for the built-in section, plus clearance for wiring and the door to swing freely.
Installation and setup
Plan cable entry so conductors can route cleanly to the DIN rail without sharp bends. Leaving a little service loop helps when you need to swap a module later. The transparent door is useful when the unit is mounted in an electrical locker or cabin panel where you want quick checks without exposing live components.
Use on board
This enclosure is a good match for boats that need a flush-mounted distribution or control point using DIN-rail format components such as breakers, RCD devices, relays, or terminal blocks. It fits well in cabins, technical cabinets, and other dry, protected spaces where you want a neat finish and basic touch and dust protection.
Maintenance and care
Wipe the door and housing with a soft cloth to keep the viewing window clear. If the enclosure is installed in a vibration-prone area, periodically check that internal devices and wiring remain properly secured on the rail.
