Overview
The Garmin BlueChart g3 Vision HD VEU485S is an electronic chart for the Bay of Biscay coast, covering from Arcachon, France to Candas, Spain, including areas around Bayonne, San Sebastian, Bilbao, Santoña, Suances, Ribadesella, and Gijon. It is offered either on a microSD/SD card or as a download you load onto a card for use in a compatible Garmin chartplotter.
It layers detailed coastal charting with route guidance tools and visual chart enhancements that help when you are picking approaches, setting safe depths, or lining up a harbor entry. Features available on compatible chartplotters include Auto Guidance route suggestions, depth range shading for up to 10 ranges, shallow water shading at a user-set depth, and contours shown down to 1 foot in supported areas, plus 3D views and imagery layers where your plotter supports them.
This coverage is a solid match for coastal cruising and fishing along northern Spain and southwest France, especially if you want bottom detail for structure and extra visual context when working into unfamiliar ports.
Key features
- VEU485S coverage from Arcachon, France to Candas, Spain, including major ports and coastal waypoints along the route.
- Built for compatible Garmin chartplotters that support BlueChart g3 Vision cartography and read from a microSD or SD card.
- Auto Guidance route suggestions that use your selected depth and overhead clearance to help with planning.
- Depth range shading with up to 10 ranges, useful for quickly isolating the depth band you want to run or fish.
- Shallow water shading at a user-defined depth to help flag areas you want to avoid.
- Bottom contours shown down to 1 foot in supported areas for tighter structure and depth awareness.
- MarinerEye and FishEye 3D views on compatible plotters for above-water and below-water perspective.
- Satellite imagery overlay and aerial photos in supported areas for added shoreline and marina context.
Variants
This chart is offered in multiple formats so you can match how you load cartography on your boat.
The difference between variants is the delivery format, either a preprogrammed card or a download you transfer to a card. Chart content and coverage are tied to the VEU485S region.
- 010-C0829-00: Format microSD/SD. A preprogrammed card that is ready to use by inserting it into the chartplotter card slot.
- 010-D0420-00: Format Download. The chart is downloaded and written to an SD or microSD card using Garmin Express before you insert the card into the chartplotter.
Compatibility and fit
Confirm your chartplotter supports BlueChart g3 Vision and has the correct card slot for the media you plan to use. Feature layers such as 3D views, imagery, and route guidance depend on chartplotter model and software level, so it helps to verify that your unit supports the chart features you care about.
Installation and setup
For the card format, insert the microSD or SD card into the chartplotter and access the chart layers from the chart selection menu. Keep the card installed while navigating so the detail layers remain available.
For the download format, use Garmin Express to load the chart onto an SD or microSD card, then insert that card into your chartplotter. Plan on one chart per card to avoid conflicts and keep cards labeled onboard.
Use on board
Depth shading and tight contours are helpful when you are working along the shelf, searching for structure, or building a route that respects your draft. Imagery layers and aerial photos add context that can make harbor entrances and marina basins easier to recognize on the screen when visibility or local familiarity is limited.
Auto Guidance is a planning aid, not an autopilot command. Always cross-check your route against local conditions, official notices, and what you are seeing on the water.
