Overview
The Vimar Eikon 20008 is a 1-pole, normally open (NO) momentary push button rated 10 A at 250 V~ for Eikon modular plates and panels. It is the type of switch that closes the circuit only while you press the button, then returns to open when you release.
On board, this style of push button is commonly used as an impulse control for a relay, contactor, or automation input (cabin lights, a doorbell, a horn trigger, or a control signal at the helm). The button can be illuminated for night use when paired with the correct illumination accessory, and the front button is replaceable when you want a different look or a marked symbol.
This is an IP40 device intended for protected interior locations. For damp lockers, cockpit areas, or anywhere that sees spray, plan on installing it behind a sealed panel or inside an enclosure that provides the required water protection.
Key features
- 1P NO momentary action: contact closes on press and opens on release.
- Rated 10 A at 250 V~ for switching or control circuits within the device rating.
- Lightable button support for better visibility at night when an illumination accessory is fitted.
- Available in 1-module (22.3 mm wide) and 2-module (44.8 mm wide) formats to match common Eikon layouts.
- IP40 protection level for interior installations away from direct washdown and spray.
- Thermoplastic construction that is halogen-free, with a matte surface finish.
- Flush-mount, snap-in fastening style suited to modular Eikon mounting frames.
- Offered with either screw terminals or screwless terminals, depending on configuration.
Variants
This push button is offered across a range that changes the visible finish, the module width, and the terminal style. Color options include grey, white, and silver, with the module size available in 1-module and 2-module versions.
Some 2-module versions add a marked face (such as a bell symbol or a light symbol) to make panel functions easier to identify. Terminal options include standard screw terminals and screwless terminals; allow roughly 36.1 to 37.9 mm of depth behind the plate depending on the terminal style.
Compatibility and fit
This unit is for installations built around the Vimar Eikon modular system. Match the module count to your existing cover plate and mounting frame, and confirm you have the clearance behind the panel for wiring bends and the device body.
If you are refitting a boat that already uses Eikon hardware, staying within the same module standard helps keep plate lines straight and avoids mismatched gaps around the switch gear.
Installation and wiring
Wiring is straightforward for a 1P NO push button: it interrupts a single conductor and closes the circuit only while pressed. It is often used to energize a relay coil or provide a momentary input to a controller, rather than carrying a heavy load directly.
Choose the terminal style that fits your wiring practice. Screw terminal versions suit ring or stripped conductors that you want to clamp down, while screwless versions suit stripped conductors that push into the terminal and release with the correct tool access.
Illumination and identification
The button can be illuminated when fitted with a compatible lamp or LED accessory matched to the supply voltage (common options are available for 12/24 V DC or 110 to 250 V AC, depending on the illumination element). Illumination is useful for finding the switch in a dark cabin or at the helm without lighting up the whole area.
Where you need quick recognition, the symbol-marked 2-module faces help keep frequently used functions clear for crew and guests.
Use cases on board
This is a good match for boats that want a clean, modular momentary control in protected interior spaces, especially where the push button triggers a relay, automation input, or signaling circuit. It also suits refits where maintaining consistency with existing Vimar Eikon plates matters as much as function.
Maintenance and care
Wipe with a soft cloth and mild cleaner. Avoid solvents and abrasive pads, and keep the device in a location that stays dry and protected from direct spray to maintain the IP40 installation intent.
