Overview
The Garmin 010-12825-00 is a powered mount for select compatible handheld satellite communicators, built for quick one-handed release when you need to grab the device and go. It uses an industry-standard AMPS mounting pattern and includes an integrated USB cable connection so the communicator can stay powered while it is docked at the helm.
On a boat, this style of mount is handy when you want a fixed home for your communicator on a console, dash, or inside a pilothouse, without relying on battery alone during long runs. It also keeps the device in the same spot every time, which helps when you are checking messages, tracking, or SOS status while underway.
Key features
- Powered mount with one-handed quick-release handling for fast docking and removal.
- Industry-standard AMPS mounting pattern for straightforward attachment to common mounting bases and flat surfaces.
- Integrated cable with USB connection for continuous power while the communicator is in the mount.
- Suited to helm and console installs where you want the device visible and reachable without loose cables across the dash.
Installation and setup
Plan the mounting location so the communicator is easy to reach with one hand and the display can be read without shifting position at the wheel. The AMPS pattern makes it simple to align the mount on a flat surface, then route the attached USB lead to your onboard USB supply.
For best results on boats that see spray and vibration, route the cable so it is supported and not pulled tight at the mount. Keep the USB connection in a protected area when possible, and use a properly regulated marine USB power source.
Compatibility and fit
This mount is intended for compatible handheld satellite communicators and is not a universal cradle. Confirm your specific device model is listed as compatible with this powered mount before ordering, especially if you run multiple handhelds on board.
Also confirm the mounting area has room for the communicator to dock and release without hitting nearby switches, chartplotter bezels, or grab rails.
Use on board
A good match for boaters who keep a satellite communicator at the helm for offshore runs, coastal cruising, or fishing trips where coverage drops out, and who still want the option to unclip it quickly for a dinghy ride or an emergency grab-and-go.
Maintenance and care
If the mount lives in a salty cockpit or on an open console, a light fresh-water wipe-down helps keep salt from building up around the dock area and cable exit. Periodically check that the mount is still secure on its base and that the USB lead has not been chafed by vibration.
