Overview

The Garmin 010-12946-00 is a powered cradle mount that holds a GPSMAP 86 Series handheld at a fixed location on the boat while keeping it powered through an integrated USB connection.

It mounts using the AMPS hole pattern and comes with a 1-inch ball and socket mount, so you can set the viewing angle on a console, bulkhead, or electronics pod where the screen is easy to glance at while underway.

Power is supplied from a 12 V DC circuit using the included flying-lead cable. The quick-release cradle makes it easy to remove the handheld with one hand when you want to take it on deck, in the dinghy, or ashore.

Power and wiring

The cradle provides power to the handheld through its integrated USB connection. Route the included 12 V flying-lead cable to your 12 V DC distribution point, and leave enough service loop at the mount so you can adjust the angle without pulling on the wiring.

On-board use notes

For open boats and exposed consoles, place the mount where it is protected from direct hose spray and where the release latch can be reached without leaning. A simple drip loop in the power lead helps keep water from tracking along the cable toward the cradle.
