Overview
The Victron Energy Outdoor GSM Antenna is an external cellular antenna for Victron GX LTE 4G installations that need a better antenna position outside an enclosed electronics area. It connects with an SMA male straight connector and uses a 3.0 m RG-316 cable, giving installers enough length to move the antenna away from metal cabinets, lockers, or other signal-blocking locations on board.
This antenna range supports 800/900/1800/1900/2100 MHz cellular bands with 3 dBi signal gain. It is used with the Victron GX LTE 4G cellular modem to help maintain mobile internet access for GX monitoring and VRM Portal connectivity when WiFi or wired internet is not available.
Key features
- External GSM antenna range for Victron GX LTE 4G cellular modem installations.
- SMA male straight connector for direct connection to the LTE antenna port on compatible Victron equipment.
- 3.0 m RG-316 cable helps place the antenna outside signal-reducing enclosures or behind-panel mounting locations.
- Screw-mount format gives a fixed installation point for marine electrical spaces, cabins, and protected exterior mounting areas.
- 800/900/1800/1900/2100 MHz frequency coverage with 3 dBi signal gain.
- Available in 2G/3G optimization and 4G optimization configurations for different cellular network needs.
Variants
This product is offered in two antenna configurations. Both variants share the same screw-mount format, RG-316 cable type, 3.0 m cable length, SMA male straight connector, listed frequency coverage, and 3 dBi signal gain.
The difference is the cellular optimization. The 4G version is optimized for 4G frequency bands while still being usable with the GX LTE 4G on 2G, 3G, and 4G bands.
- GSM900100100: Optimization 2G/3G. This version suits installations where the available service is based around legacy 2G or 3G coverage and the antenna is being used with a Victron GX LTE 4G setup.
- GSM900100400: Optimization 4G. This version is tuned for 4G reception and is the more suitable match where the vessel relies on LTE coverage for Victron remote monitoring.
Installation and setup
For the best cellular signal, mount the antenna where it has a clearer path to the mobile network and is not boxed in by metal structures. On a boat, that often means moving it away from the DC distribution area, battery compartment, or metal electronics cabinet where the GX LTE 4G modem may be installed.
The screw mount should be fitted on a stable surface where the cable can be routed without sharp bends, pinch points, or strain at the SMA connector. Keep the cable run tidy and avoid routing it alongside high-current DC cables where practical.
Compatibility and use on board
This antenna is for Victron GX LTE 4G cellular modem installations where cellular data is used for remote system monitoring. It is a practical fit for cruising boats, workboats, and off-grid marine electrical systems that need GX data to reach the VRM Portal while away from marina WiFi or shore-based internet.
It is an antenna accessory, not a router or a standalone internet device. The cellular modem, SIM service, GX device, and network coverage still determine whether the system can connect and transmit data reliably.
