Overview
The Raymarine Quantum 2 Q24D is an 18-inch solid-state radome radar with CHIRP pulse compression and Doppler collision avoidance for supported Raymarine displays. It gives small and mid-size boats a compact radar option for checking traffic, land, markers, rain, and floating hazards in poor visibility, at night, or in busy waterways.
The radome runs on either 12 V DC or 24 V DC systems, with an operating range from 10.8 V DC to 31.2 V DC. It measures 541.0 mm in diameter by 209.5 mm high, weighs 5.6 kg, and carries an IPX6 waterproof rating for exposed mounting on a hardtop, arch, mast mount, or radar platform.
Quantum 2 can connect by Wi-Fi or Ethernet, depending on the display and installation plan. Its Doppler processing highlights moving radar contacts by direction of travel, while the 24 nautical mile maximum range scale and 6 m minimum range help cover both open-water awareness and close-in work around harbors, moorings, and channels.

Variants
The Quantum 2 Q24D range is offered in white and black radome enclosures, with cable bundles that suit different installation layouts. The radar platform, connection options, voltage range, radome size, and core Doppler radar functions remain the same across these configurations.
The main differences are enclosure color and whether the package includes power and data cables. Cable length matters most when routing from the radome to the display location, power distribution point, or network area, especially on larger cabins, hardtops, arches, and sailboat mast runs.
- E70498: White enclosure with no power or data cable included. This configuration works well when the installer is sourcing cable lengths separately or replacing a radome in an existing planned installation.
- T70416: White enclosure with 10 m power and data cables included. The 10 m cable set fits many compact helm, hardtop, arch, and cabin-top installations where the radar is close to the display and power route.
- T70417: White enclosure with 15 m power and data cables included. The 15 m cable set gives extra routing length for taller mounts, longer cabin runs, or installations where the cable path cannot be direct.
- T70549: Black enclosure with 10 m power and data cables included. The black radome gives the same radar configuration with a darker finish for boats where the radar needs to match black trim, hardtops, or electronics styling.
- T70550: Black enclosure with 15 m power and data cables included. This version pairs the black enclosure with the longer cable set for installations that need more reach between the scanner, power, and network connection.
Installation and setup
The unit should be mounted with a clear view around the vessel and as high as practical for radar line of sight. It is commonly used on powerboat hardtops and radar arches, and on sailboats with a mast mount or radar pole where the radome can stay clear of sails, rigging, and crew movement.
A wired Ethernet connection is a good fit when the cable route is already available or when the display installation favors a hardwired network. Wi-Fi can reduce data cabling on compatible Raymarine systems, but the radome still needs its own power connection.
Compatibility and system fit
This radar is intended for use with compatible Raymarine multifunction displays, including many Axiom and LightHouse 3 based systems. Display generation and software level matter, and some older Raymarine displays do not support Quantum 2, so the helm electronics should be checked before ordering cables or drilling a mount.
For MARPA or ARPA target tracking and better low-speed radar behavior, the system may need suitable heading data. Boats that already have a Raymarine autopilot sensor or compatible heading source may be able to use that data as part of the radar setup.
Use cases on board
Quantum 2 Q24D is a strong match for coastal cruisers, fishing boats, RIBs, and sailboats that need radar coverage without the size and weight of an open-array scanner. It is especially useful for harbor entrances, fog, night running, rain tracking, and traffic awareness in areas where small craft, buoys, pots, and shoreline detail matter.
