Overview
The Lopolight 301-109ST-PRO-I is a red port navigation light with a 3 nautical mile range and a sensor-controlled de-icing function for ice-class operation. It runs on 20-32 VDC, draws 2.2 W, and is sealed to an IP68 level for wet mounting locations.
Built for vessels over 50 m, the double-stacked housing is set up for horizontal mounting on the port side where you need a clear 3NM sidelight sector. The body measures Ø92.5 mm x 125.5 mm and weighs about 1.4 kg, which helps when you are handling it on a ship-side install.
It meets COLREG72 and EN14744, and it is built to IEC 60945 for marine electronics environments, so it fits into commercial light plans where inspection and documentation matter.
Key features
- 3NM red port sidelight output with intensity greater than 15 cd
- Automatic de-icing controlled by the light's internal sensor to reduce ice buildup on the lens
- 20-32 VDC input for 24 V nominal systems, with 2.2 W power draw
- IP68 sealing for constant spray, washdowns, and high-exposure mounting areas
- Black hard coat anodized aluminum housing with a PMMA lens
- Horizontal mounting format with side cable exit and an HDPE base plate
- Supplied cable glands in three ranges: 4.5-10 mm, 7-13 mm, and 9-17 mm cable diameter
- Plug connector so the fixture can be disconnected for service without cutting wiring
- Service temperature range from -60°C to 55°C
Compatibility and fit
This light is intended for ships and large yachts over 50 m that require a 3NM port sidelight. It is made for fixed horizontal mounting, so confirm your port-side mounting pad gives the lens a clear view and matches your vessel's navigation light plan.
Electrical compatibility is straightforward: it is for 20-32 VDC input. If your navigation-light feed is outside that range, this model will not be a match.
It is a good fit for operators that see freezing spray and icing conditions and want the de-icing function running automatically without manual intervention.
Installation and wiring
Mount the light on a surface that is flat and rigid using the horizontal base, then route the cable through the side exit and the correct gland for your cable diameter. The supplied glands cover 4.5-10 mm, 7-13 mm, and 9-17 mm cable jackets, which helps maintain strain relief and sealing without improvised adapters.
Size the feed conductors to meet or exceed 1.5 mm2 (AWG 18) and protect the circuit the same way you protect other navigation lights on the vessel. The plug connector makes it easier to remove the fixture for service without re-terminating conductors.
After installation, verify sector coverage from the port side and confirm the light is not blocked by nearby structure or deck equipment.
Use and upkeep
The de-icing function is controlled by the sensor in the light, so it engages when conditions call for it and helps keep the lens clear during cold-weather runs. The specified service temperature range is -60°C to 55°C.
For routine care, rinse salt and grime off the lens and housing, then check the gland seal and connector engagement during periodic nav-light inspections. If the vessel sees heavy ice or abrasive washdowns, inspect the lens for scuffs that could reduce visibility over time.
