Overview

The Lopolight 200-014G2-PRO-I is a 360-degree red all-round navigation light with a built-in de-icing function for boats and commercial vessels up to 50 m. It runs on 10-32 VDC for 12V or 24V systems and carries a 2 nautical mile (2 NM) rating with intensity greater than 5.4 cd.

For cold-weather operation, the de-icing mode helps keep the lens clear when freezing spray or ice buildup would otherwise block the light. Normal power draw is 2.1 W, and de-icing draws about 15 W at 24 VDC, so it is worth planning the circuit for that higher load.

The housing is hard coat anodized aluminum in a black finish (50 micron anodizing) with a PMMA lens and A4 stainless steel fasteners. The assembly is rated IP68 and is approved to COLREG72, EN14744, IEC 60945, IACS E10, USCG, ABS, M.E.D., DNV, and LR.

Installation and setup

This light is a horizontal-mount unit, so it should be installed on a flat surface where it has an unobstructed 360-degree view. Pay attention to antennas, rails, and other fittings that can shadow an all-round light, especially on workboats and pilothouse roofs where gear tends to accumulate.

Plan the cable run before drilling so the side-exit wiring lands where it can be protected from foot traffic, line handling, and chafe. In saltwater service, a small drip loop and a tidy clamp-down near the entry point help keep water from tracking along the cable into the boat.

Electrical and system integration

Operating voltage is 10-32 VDC, which fits typical 12V and 24V DC systems. Current consumption is 150 mA at 12 VDC and 85 mA at 24 VDC in normal operation, and the de-icing mode increases load, so confirm the breaker or fuse and switch capacity for the highest draw you expect to use.

Minimum feed wire gauge is 1.5 mm2 (AWG 18). On longer runs, going heavier than the minimum can help reduce voltage drop and keep light output consistent.

Materials and corrosion resistance

The housing uses hard coat anodized aluminum in a black finish with a PMMA lens and A4 stainless fasteners. Regular freshwater rinsing after saltwater trips helps keep the lens clear and reduces salt buildup around fasteners and cable entry points.

Use on board

This is a practical fit for operators who run in cold climates where icing is a real problem, including commercial boats, fast pilot-style vessels, and cruising boats that see shoulder-season weather. It also works well on boats that need a compact 2 NM all-round red light on a cabin top, mast structure, or other elevated mounting location.

Maintenance and care

Check the lens for film, salt, and ice residue, and rinse with fresh water after trips. Periodically inspect the mounting hardware and cable strain relief for loosening from vibration, and confirm the seal surfaces stay clean before reassembly if the unit is serviced.
