Overview
The Vimar VM71303.AU is a 3-module flush mounting box for masonry walls, molded in black technopolymer plastic and sized around 96 x 59 x 49.8 mm.
It gives you a recessed cavity for Vimar modular wiring devices while leaving room for cable bends and terminations, which matters when you are running heavier marine-grade conductors. The body is Glow Wire tested to 960 °C for added resistance to abnormal heat.
Key features
- 3-module format for Vimar modular devices when paired with the matching support frame and cover plate
- Rectangular masonry box footprint around 96 x 59 mm with about 49.8 mm depth to sit flush behind finished surfaces
- Glow Wire rating 960 °C for improved resistance to abnormal heat and ignition
- Expanded internal volume (about 20% more space) to help with wiring, splices, and cable bend radius
- Knockouts on multiple sides for conduit entry; knockouts can be opened without tools
- Zinc-plated fixing lugs for the support screws to reduce thread clogging during installation and plastering
- Provision for a dividing screen accessory to separate compartments when you need physical cable segregation
Installation and setup
This box is intended for solid walls. In a boat context, it fits best where you have a masonry-style substrate or a solid bulkhead build-up that can be chased or cut to accept a rectangular box. Set it level and flush to the finished surface so the faceplate sits flat once the modules are installed.
Plan your conduit runs before you set the box, and keep the screw points clear during plastering or fairing work. Installation temperature range is -15 °C to +60 °C.
Compatibility and fit
Confirm that your device family uses a 3-module mounting box in the Vimar system, then match the correct support frame and cover plate to your chosen devices. If you are mounting into thin panels or hollow joinery, a hollow-wall style mounting box is the better match than a masonry box.
This is an in-wall mounting box and does not provide a sealed enclosure, so it belongs in protected interior locations rather than areas exposed to washdowns or direct spray.
Use on board
It suits refits and new builds where you want a tidy, recessed installation for switch groups, outlets, or data sockets in cabins, saloons, and nav stations. When routing cables on a moving vessel, leave service loops and strain relief in the wall space so the device terminations are not carrying vibration loads.
