The Garmin ECHOMAP Ultra is a fishfinder and GPS chartplotter combo that pairs a keyed-assist touchscreen display with a GT56UHD-TM transducer for traditional CHIRP and Ultra High-Definition scanning sonar. Across the range, the main differences are display size and the included charts and maps option.

• 010-02528-01: Display Size 12" and Charts & Maps Worldwide basemap. The basemap provides a starting point for navigation and route planning, with chart upgrades available separately if you need more local detail.
• 010-02529-51: Display Size 12" and Charts & Maps Garmin Navionics+. This configuration includes the Garmin Navionics+ chart package option for the unit.
• 010-02526-01: Display Size 10" and Charts & Maps Worldwide basemap. The smaller footprint can be easier to place on compact consoles while keeping charts and sonar together.
• 010-02527-51: Display Size 10" and Charts & Maps Garmin Navionics+. This configuration pairs the 10-inch format with the Garmin Navionics+ chart package option.

Installation and setup

Plan the display location where you can comfortably reach the touchscreen and keys without leaning, and where spray and washdowns won’t constantly soak the connector area. Leave space behind the unit for cable bends and service access so the wiring is not forced into sharp turns.

The GT56UHD-TM is a transom-mount transducer. For clean returns at speed, mount it where it stays in solid water flow and away from strakes, steps, and fittings that introduce aerated water.

Electrical and system integration

NMEA 2000 support lets the unit share data with compatible devices on the backbone, and LiveScope support keeps the door open for live sonar expansion. If you are integrating multiple electronics, keep all connections strain-relieved and routed so they won’t chafe in vibration.

As with any sonar install, route transducer and network cabling away from high-current runs where possible, and secure cables so they don’t move or pull on the connectors in rough water.

Use on board

This setup suits anglers who run inshore structure, flats edges, reefs, and nearshore water where you’re switching between charting and sonar all day. It also fits small cruisers that want a combined navigation and depth-finding screen at the helm.
