Overview

The Vimar Idea is a vertical badge switch for access-control points where a card is inserted to trigger a relay output. It uses a 16 A 250 V~ change-over relay output and can be supplied by 230 V~ 50-60 Hz, 24 V~ 50-60 Hz, or 24 V d.c. (SELV). The unit occupies 3 modules and fits a flush-mounted installation.

This is a standalone component with no network connection, no PC binding, and no built-in signalling. Its plastic housing is rated IP20 and measures 74.8 x 50.1 x 49.2 mm, which makes it better suited to protected interior spaces on board than exposed deck or washdown areas. The badge is not included.

Variants

This product is offered in two color configurations within the same badge-switch format.

The variation between the listed options is color. The 3-module footprint, vertical badge pocket, 16 A 250 V~ change-over relay output, supply options, flush-mount installation, and IP20 protection remain the same across both variants.

• VM16465, Color: Gray. This finish suits panels and cabin switch positions that already use gray Idea devices and trim.
• VM16465.B, Color: Ivory. This finish works where the surrounding switchgear or interior trim uses a lighter tone.

Installation and fit

This switch uses a flush-mounted format and takes up 3 modules, so it needs to be matched with the correct Idea support hardware and front plate arrangement already used at the installation point. With a body depth of 49.2 mm, it is worth checking clearance behind the panel or bulkhead before final fit-out.

Electrical and system integration

The relay output and multiple supply options make this unit easier to integrate into interior control points on vessels that use either 230 V AC or 24 V systems. Because it works as a standalone component and has no interface, it suits installations where a simple badge-triggered switching function is preferred over a networked access-control setup.

Use on board

This badge switch is a good match for cabins, crew areas, passageways, and service spaces where the installation is inside the boat and protected from spray. The IP20 rating and 5 to 45 C operating range point to interior use, not open cockpit, deck, or other wet locations.
