Overview
The Garmin 010-11325-00 is an engine tilt adapter that converts a traditional analog trim/tilt signal into NMEA 2000 data so you can view engine-tilt information on compatible Garmin displays connected to your NMEA 2000 network.
It is powered from the NMEA 2000 bus (9 to 16 Vdc) with a maximum NMEA 2000 power usage of 1 W (LEN 2, 100 mA). The assembly has a total cable length of 16 ft (4.9 m), and the adapter body measures 31/32 in x 43/64 in x 3 3/32 in (24.7 x 17.0 x 78.6 mm).
The housing meets IEC 60529 IPX7 for washdowns and occasional splashes, and it is intended for locations where it will not be submerged on a regular basis. This is a practical fit for boats that already have a working trim/tilt sender or gauge and want that information available on the NMEA 2000 network without changing the sender style.
Key features
- Brings analog engine trim/tilt information onto a NMEA 2000 network for viewing on compatible Garmin instruments and chartplotters.
- Supports wiring to an analog gauge or directly to the engine-tilt sensor, using the built-in bare-wire harness.
- Works with resistive sender signals and with generic voltage sender signals from 0 to 5 Vdc (wiring method varies by sensor type).
- Powered by the NMEA 2000 bus (9 to 16 Vdc), with 1 W maximum power usage and LEN 2 (100 mA).
- IEC 60529 IPX7 waterproof rating for washdown locations when not installed where it will be submerged regularly.
- Total cable length of 16 ft (4.9 m) to help reach from the engine or helm area to the NMEA 2000 backbone.
- Compass safe distance: 2 in (5 cm).
Installation and setup
Plan the mounting location so the adapter sits between the NMEA 2000 backbone and the existing gauge or sender, and keep it within 173 in (4.4 m) of the gauge or engine-tilt sensor to avoid splicing bare wires. The unit can be secured to existing structure with cable ties or fastened to a bulkhead using appropriate mounts and hardware (mounting hardware is not part of the adapter).
On the NMEA 2000 side, the adapter connects through a T-connector on the backbone. If the adapter cannot reach the backbone directly, a NMEA 2000 drop cable up to 20 ft (6 m) can be used between the T-connector and the adapter.
After wiring, engine-tilt calibration is completed from the connected Garmin display via the NMEA 2000 device list. Multi-engine installations can be set so each adapter reports the correct engine number on the network.
Compatibility and system integration
This adapter is intended for boats using an analog trim/tilt gauge or a trim/tilt sender that you can access at the gauge or at the engine. It is commonly used on outboards and inboard/outboard drives that have trim control and a separate sender signal, where you want the trim/tilt data available on the NMEA 2000 network.
Because the adapter draws its power from the NMEA 2000 bus, correct network power and backbone layout matter. If you are expanding an existing NMEA 2000 backbone, add the T-connector and connect the adapter as another device rather than adding a second network power feed.
