Overview
The Garmin 010-11328-00 is an analog-to-NMEA 2000 adapter that brings water speed and water temperature from a compatible transducer into your NMEA 2000 network.
Once it is on the backbone, any compatible display on the network can show water-referenced speed and temperature. It draws power from the NMEA 2000 bus (9 to 16 Vdc), is IPX7 waterproof for spray and washdowns, and is rated for a temperature range of 5°F to 158°F (-15°C to 70°C). The module measures 31/32 x 43/64 x 3 3/32 in. (24.7 x 17.0 x 78.6 mm) and has a total cable length of 16 ft (4.9 m).
Plan the mounting spot so the unit sits between the sensor and the NMEA 2000 backbone and stays within 173 in. (4.4 m) of the sensor connection, since that sensor lead is not extendable.
Key features
- Converts analog water-speed and water-temperature sensor signals into NMEA 2000 data for use across the network.
- NMEA 2000 certified; transmits PGN 128259 (Speed, water referenced) and PGN 130312 (Temperature).
- Powered from the NMEA 2000 bus (9 to 16 Vdc); 0.9 W max draw; LEN 1 (50 mA).
- IPX7 waterproof housing suited to areas that see spray and washdowns; avoid locations that stay submerged.
- Installation constraints are easy to plan for: keep the module within 173 in. (4.4 m) of the sensor and use a NMEA 2000 drop cable up to 20 ft (6 m) if the backbone connection is not close by.
Compatibility and fit
The sensor-side connector mates directly to compatible Garmin water-speed and temperature sensors, including Garmin (Airmar ST850) thru-hull water-speed and water-temperature sensor (010-11413-00), Garmin (Airmar T80) water-temperature sensor (010-11413-01), and the Garmin transom-mount water-speed sensor (010-10279-02). Sensors are not included.
On the network side, it connects to a standard NMEA 2000 backbone through a T-connector. If it cannot reach the backbone directly, a drop cable can be used (up to 20 ft / 6 m).
Installation and setup
Mount the module in a spot that stays dry most of the time but can handle spray, then secure it so it cannot vibrate or chafe. Keep it at least 2 in. (5 cm) from a magnetic compass to avoid interference.
After connecting the sensor and joining the NMEA 2000 backbone, calibrate the water speed from the NMEA 2000 device list on your compatible display. Temperature source location and offset can also be set so the network labels and readings match how your boat is rigged.
Electrical and network integration
This adapter is powered by the NMEA 2000 bus, so it belongs on a correctly powered backbone with a single network power connection. Once installed, speed and temperature data are available anywhere on the network, which is useful on boats with more than one display station.
