Overview
The Garmin 010-11327-00 is a NMEA 2000 analog adapter that converts Bennett trim tab position signals into NMEA 2000 data so the information can be shown on a Garmin GMI 10 multifunction instrument display. It is commonly referred to as the GBT 10 Bennett Trim Tab NMEA 2000 analog adapter.
If your boat has Bennett trim tabs with an analog position indicator or analog position sensors, this adapter lets you add trim tab position to your NMEA 2000 network without changing how the tabs are controlled at the helm.
This unit is for monitoring trim tab position. It does not power the trim tab pump and it does not replace the trim tab control switch.
Key features
- Converts analog Bennett trim tab position output into NMEA 2000 trim tab position data
- Displays trim tab position on compatible Garmin instruments connected to the NMEA 2000 network, including the GMI 10
- Works as a clean bridge between older analog trim tab feedback and a modern NMEA 2000 helm layout
- Installs in-line with the existing trim tab position wiring so you can keep the current indicator or sensor setup
Compatibility and fit
This adapter is intended for Bennett trim tab systems that provide an analog position signal. Before ordering, confirm your boat has a Bennett trim tab position indicator and wiring, or Bennett trim tab position sensors and wiring, that you can tie into without altering the trim tab control circuit.
A working NMEA 2000 backbone is required. Trim tab position will only appear on displays that support NMEA 2000 trim tab position data pages.
Installation and setup
Plan the mounting location so the adapter can reach both the trim tab position wiring and the NMEA 2000 backbone without leaving splices exposed. In a saltwater boat, keep connections above the bilge line and secure the harness so vibration does not work connections loose over time.
After installation, verify the device is visible on the NMEA 2000 network and confirm the displayed trim tab position changes smoothly as the tabs move. If your display offers a trim tab calibration or setup function, run it so the on-screen reading matches your boat’s real trim tab travel.
Use on board
Trim tab position on a digital display helps when you are balancing the boat after a load change, running in chop, or tuning your running angle for fuel economy. It also helps when the original analog indicator is hard to read from the normal driving position.
This is a good match for owners upgrading a helm to NMEA 2000 instruments who still want clear trim tab feedback from an existing Bennett system.
Maintenance and care
Check the wiring connections periodically for corrosion and strain, especially near the transom and anywhere the harness passes through rigging tubes. If the displayed position becomes inconsistent, inspect the sensor wiring and re-check any calibration options on the display.
