Overview
The Simrad 24005886 is a SimNet protection plug that covers an unused SimNet connector to help keep dust and moisture off the contacts.
It is used anywhere a SimNet connection is left open, such as spare ports on SimNet T-connectors, unused device leads behind the helm, or network tees mounted in a console where spray and condensation are common. The plug is black and matches SimNet connector geometry used on SimNet and SimNet-based NMEA 2000 installations.
Key features
- Covers unused SimNet ports to reduce exposure to dust and moisture
- Helps keep connector contacts cleaner during washdowns, storage, and staged installs
- Made to fit SimNet connector ends used on Simrad SimNet networks
- Useful on spare tees, joiners, and any SimNet lead that is not currently connected
- Black finish that stays discreet in the helm, dash cavities, and electronics lockers
Compatibility and fit
This plug is for SimNet connectors. It will not fit NMEA 2000 Micro-C or other network connector styles. If your system uses adapter cables between SimNet and NMEA 2000, match this plug to the SimNet side of the connection.
Installation and setup
Fit the plug onto the unused SimNet connector end after making sure the connector is clean and dry. Leave it in place until that port is needed, then remove it before mating the connector.
Use cases on board
Handy for new installs where the backbone is built ahead of time and extra ports are left open, or for boats that keep spare tees in the console for future expansion. It is a good match for SimNet-equipped boats that see salt spray, washdowns, or high humidity around the helm.
Maintenance and care
Rinse salt off during routine wipe-downs and check that the plug is seated any time you service the network. Replace it if it becomes damaged or no longer stays snug on the connector.
