Overview
The Garmin MOB Tag is a wireless, wearable man overboard tag that works with a Garmin OnBoard engine cutoff system, so the crew can move around the boat without a tethered lanyard.
If a protected tag travels out of range of the GOS 10 hub, the system treats it as a man overboard event and can sound a loud alarm and create a MOB waypoint on connected chartplotters. Tags are assigned a Captain or Passenger role, which changes whether an engine cutoff is allowed during an event.
The tag measures 43.94 mm x 37.26 mm x 11.96 mm (H x W x D), communicates up to 66 ft (20 m), and runs on a CR2032 3V coin-cell battery rated for more than 1,200 hours of connected time. A large MOB button on the face of the tag can also be used to trigger a MOB procedure manually.

Variants
This product is offered in multiple color options.
The only listed difference between variants is the exterior color, which affects visibility and how it blends with other gear on board.
- 010-02908-30: Color White. A color that is easier to spot on deck and in a gear bag when things get busy.
- 010-02908-31: Color Black. A low-profile look that tends to blend in with darker helm gear and hardware.
Installation and setup
Pairing is handled through a compatible Garmin chartplotter connected to the OnBoard system. Once a tag is paired, it can be renamed, assigned a role, and monitored from the helm so you can tell at a glance whether it is connected and protected.
At least one tag must be assigned the Captain role for the engine cutoff system to function. Additional tags can be added for passengers so the boat can track multiple people at the same time.
Battery and care
The tag can be turned off when it is not in use to preserve battery life, and a quick status check on the tag shows connection and battery condition. Battery replacement uses a CR2032 3V coin-cell battery.
If you open the tag for a battery change, make sure the rubber gasket is fully seated before closing it back up, since that seal is what keeps water from getting inside.
