Overview
The Garmin 010-02908-10 is the GOS 10 hub for the Garmin OnBoard wireless MOB tag and engine cutoff system. It communicates wirelessly with MOB tags and connects in-line to your boat’s ignition harness so the system can trigger an engine cut off event when required. For the system to operate, the hub must be on the same NMEA 2000 network as at least one compatible Garmin chartplotter.
Power is supplied separately through the included fused harness, and the hub does not draw power from the NMEA 2000 network. It supports 10 to 32 VDC input for 12V and 24V boats, with a typical draw of 50 mA at 12V (0.6 W). Wireless range is listed at 66 ft (up to 20 m), which helps when the helm and cockpit are a few steps apart.
The enclosure is rated IPX6 and IPX7 and is sized at 91.55 mm x 155.12 mm x 48.47 mm (171.7 g). Operating temperature range is -15 C to 70 C, and the compass-safe distance is 5 cm.
Key features
- Connects wirelessly to Garmin OnBoard MOB tags and interfaces with your engine ignition harness for ECOS functionality
- Requires connection to the same NMEA 2000 network as a compatible Garmin chartplotter for setup, alerts, and device visibility
- 10 to 32 VDC supply range with separate power input through an included fused harness (does not receive power from NMEA 2000)
- Supports up to 4 close-to-stop engines or up to 2 open-to-stop engines
- Wireless range: 66 ft (up to 20 m)
- NMEA 2000 LEN: 1
- Water rating: IPX6 and IPX7; operating temperature range: -15 C to 70 C
Installation and setup
Plan a mounting spot that keeps wiring runs clean to the helm NMEA 2000 backbone and to the engine ignition harness connection point. The included external antenna is intended to be mounted where it can “see” the areas people move around, which helps maintain a stable tag connection in real-world cockpit and deck layouts.
Once connected, the hub appears on the chartplotter through the NMEA 2000 device list, which is useful for confirming the network connection and checking basic status during commissioning.
Compatibility and fit
This hub is intended for the Garmin OnBoard system and is built to work with inboard, outboard, and sterndrive engines from major manufacturers via a hardwired, in-line ignition harness connection. Engine support is specified as up to 4 close-to-stop engines or 2 open-to-stop engines, so multi-outboard and twin-engine setups can be accommodated when the ignition wiring matches those modes.
It is a good match for boats where you want MOB alerts and an engine cutoff system managed at the helm, with the hub integrated into an existing NMEA 2000 network.

Maintenance and care
After washdowns or a wet run, check that the harness and antenna connections remain fully seated and that cable routing has not chafed against sharp edges. Keep the unit mounted where it is protected from direct impacts, and avoid storing heavy gear where it can press on the wiring.
