Overview
The Hella Marine NaviLED PRO Starboard Navigation Lamp is a sealed LED starboard sidelight with a green lens, offered in 2 NM and 3 NM visibility models for vessel navigation lighting.
It runs on Multivolt 9-33V DC, so it fits typical 12V and 24V onboard systems without needing a separate regulator. The housing is IP67 and fully sealed for washdowns and spray, and the lamp comes pre-wired with 2.5 m of twin-core marine cable.
Size is compact for side mounting at about 87 mm wide by 90 mm tall, with roughly 57 mm overall depth, and the unit weighs about 250 g including the cable.
Key features
- Starboard green sidelight with a 112.5 degree sector for correct side-light coverage
- Available as 2 NM or 3 NM visible-distance models (visibility depends on the selected variant)
- Multivolt 9-33V DC input for 12V and 24V electrical systems
- IP67 rated and completely sealed for wet installations
- Pre-wired with 2.5 m of twin-core marine cable for a simple run to your nav-light switch panel
- Approx. dimensions 87 x 90 x 57 mm; approx. weight 250 g including cable
- Protected against reverse polarity connection and voltage transients that can occur on boat DC systems
- Meets common marine navigation lighting approvals and standards including IMO COLREG 72, USCG 33 CFR 183.810, ABYC C-5, ISO 19009:2015, and EN 60945:2002
Variants
This lamp is offered in multiple configurations to match your boat and the required visibility rating.
The variants differ by housing shroud color (black or white) and by nominal visible distance (2 NM or 3 NM). Across the range, the lamp remains a sealed IP67 unit with a Multivolt 9-33V DC input and a pre-wired 2.5 m twin-core cable.
- 017461101: Housing black shroud, Nautical Mile 3NM. A black shroud keeps the installation visually understated on dark hull sides and painted surfaces.
- 017461111: Housing white shroud, Nautical Mile 3NM. A white shroud blends in with white gelcoat and many deckhouse finishes.
- 017461001: Housing black shroud, Nautical Mile 2NM. The 2 NM rating is commonly used where regulations call for the shorter visible-distance class.
- 017461011: Housing white shroud, Nautical Mile 2NM. This keeps the same 2 NM visibility class while matching lighter exterior finishes.
Installation and setup
Mount the starboard lamp so it sits vertical and parallel to the vessel centerline, with the signal-direction arrow pointing straight ahead. Keep the lens unobstructed by rails, fenders, covers, or superstructure so the light can be seen across its full sector.
The shroud is typically fastened with two M5 or 10 gauge fasteners, and you will want a clean cable pass-through with a properly sealed exit to prevent water migration into the mounting surface. Side lights should be installed at the same height and in the same athwartships position as the port light to maintain correct geometry.
Electrical and system integration
Wiring is straightforward: red is positive (+) and black is negative (-). Protect the circuit with a fuse rated up to 3 A maximum, located according to good marine wiring practice. If the polarity is reversed the lamp will not operate, but the unit is protected against accidental reverse connection.
Compatibility and fit
This is a dedicated starboard unit with a green lens for side mounting. Select a 2 NM or 3 NM model that matches your vessel class and the navigation rules you operate under, then pair it with the matching port and stern lights to complete the set.
It is a good match for boats that need a low-draw navigation light on 12V or 24V DC, and for installations where a sealed housing matters because the light sits on an exposed cabin side or gunwale.
Maintenance and care
The lamp is a sealed unit with no serviceable internal parts, so routine care is mostly external cleaning and checking the cable entry and fasteners after heavy weather or seasonal haul-out. The lamp includes a built-in service timer that can indicate extended operating life by briefly flashing when switched on after very long run time, which helps you plan replacement before output drops below its certification requirement.
