Overview
The Hella Marine NaviLED PRO is an LED masthead navigation lamp offered in 3 NM and 5 NM visibility versions, with a Heavy Duty Grilamid lens and an IP67 sealed housing.
It runs on Multivolt 9-33V DC, so it suits typical 12V and 24V boat systems. Power draw is kept low at 4W for the 5 NM version and less than 2.5W for the 3 NM version (0.2A at 12V). Weight is 150g for 5 NM and 250g for 3 NM, both including the cable.
The lamp is supplied pre-wired with 2.5 m of twin-core marine cable and includes spike protection to +500 V and reverse polarity protection to -700 V. Electronics are built to help avoid interference with onboard radios, communication gear, and navigation equipment.
Key features
- Multivolt 9-33V DC input for 12V and 24V systems
- IP67 sealed housing that stays watertight in spray, rain, and washdowns
- Heavy Duty Grilamid lens paired with an impact-resistant housing for real-world knocks
- Low power draw: 5 NM version uses 4W; 3 NM version uses less than 2.5W (0.2A at 12V)
- Pre-wired with 2.5 m of twin-core marine cable to simplify runs up a mast or through a hardtop
- Electrical protection for common onboard issues: spike protected to +500 V and reverse polarity protected to -700 V
- Certification options vary by version, including Standard International Approvals and BSH Approved
Variants
This NaviLED PRO masthead lamp range is offered with black or white housings, with a choice of 3 NM or 5 NM minimum visible distance.
Housing color, nautical mile rating, and certification are the items that change across the range. For these Heavy Duty lens versions, the Multivolt 9-33V DC input, IP67 sealing, and 2.5 m pre-wired cable remain consistent.
Compatibility and fit
Masthead lights are used as the forward-facing navigation light when a vessel is underway under power. Install it on the vessel centerline, level, and in a position where rigging, antennas, or equipment do not block visibility forward and to either side.
Visible-distance requirements vary by vessel and jurisdiction, so the 3 NM and 5 NM options help match the lamp to the requirement you need to meet.
Installation and wiring
With the supplied twin-core cable, installation is straightforward: route the cable inside the mast or through the mounting structure, then connect into a dedicated navigation-light switch and a fused DC circuit. Support the cable to prevent chafe, and seal any deck or mast penetrations to keep water out of the core.
On-board use
This light is a good match for boats that spend nights underway and want a masthead lamp that draws little power while standing up to vibration. It also fits working boats where gear on deck can take the occasional hit, since the Heavy Duty lens is built for rough service.
Maintenance and care
There is no bulb to replace. Rinse the lens after saltwater runs and check the mounting and cable condition during routine inspections.
