Overview

The Hella Marine NaviLED PRO is a port (red) navigation lamp for fixed mounting on the port side of a vessel, offered in 2 NM and 3 NM visibility versions.

It runs on 9-33V DC for 12V and 24V systems and comes pre-wired with 2.5 m of tinned twin-core marine cable. The unit is IP67 completely sealed, uses an acrylic lens that resists UV and impacts, weighs 250 g including the cable, and is backed by a 5-year warranty.

Power draw is under 2 W, with built-in protection against spikes up to +500 V and reverse polarity down to -500 V.

Variants

This lamp is offered with two housing shroud colors and two visibility ratings.

Across the range, the unit runs on 9-33V DC and is IP67 sealed, with a 2.5 m tinned twin-core cable already attached. What changes is the shroud color (black or white) and the certified visible distance (2 NM or 3 NM).

• 017460001: Black shroud, 2 NM visible distance. Matches the 2 NM requirement used for vessels up to 50 m.
• 017460011: White shroud, 2 NM visible distance. Same 2 NM rating with a white housing for lighter topsides.
• 017460101: Black shroud, 3 NM visible distance. Matches the 3 NM requirement used for vessels over 50 m.
• 017460111: White shroud, 3 NM visible distance. Same 3 NM rating with a white housing for lighter decks and cabins.

Installation and wiring

Mount the lamp on the port side so the red sector shows from dead ahead through the required arc, and keep it clear of rails, fenders, and canvas that can block the beam. Route the cable into a dry space where possible, make the connections with tinned terminals and adhesive-lined heat-shrink, and tie into a properly fused navigation-light circuit.

Since the lamp is sealed, pay extra attention to sealing your fasteners and any cable pass-through you create in the hull or cabin side to keep water out of the structure.

Compatibility and fit

This is a two-wire DC navigation light, not a networked device, so it works on most boats without extra control modules. For consistent color and output across your running lights, keep the set in the same visibility class and housing color when matching with the rest of your navigation lights.

Use on board

It suits boats that run at night and want a navigation light that draws under 2 W, especially when you are watching battery use on long evenings or overnight passages. The sealed IP67 build also makes sense for open cockpits and mounting locations that see regular spray.

Maintenance and checks

Keep the lens clean and free of polish or wax buildup, rinse salt off after heavy spray, and inspect the cable and terminations at the start of the season. If you see corrosion at the connections or a nicked cable jacket, address it early to avoid intermittent running lights.
