The B&G 000-14957-002 is a complete NMEA 2000 instrument pack for sailboats that puts wind, speed-through-water, depth, and water temperature on two Triton2 4.1-inch color displays. Each display uses a transflective LCD and an optically bonded screen, which helps it stay readable in bright sun and reduces the chance of fogging, with a compact footprint around 4.6 x 4.5 x 1.4 inches (W x H x D).

This pack combines a DST810 thru-hull multisensor (235 kHz) with a WS320 wireless wind sensor and a WS320 interface that bridges the masthead sensor onto the NMEA 2000 backbone. The wind link is specified for mast heights up to 25 m (80 ft). The DST810 runs on 9 to 16 V DC, connects directly to NMEA 2000 with an attached 6 m (20 ft) cable, and includes a self-closing valve in the housing to limit water flow if the insert is removed for service.

It suits a boat that wants reliable cockpit numbers for trim and steering, plus a second display location at the companionway or nav station, without running a wind cable down the mast.

Installation and setup

Plan the NMEA 2000 backbone first, then place the two displays where they are easy to read underway, commonly at the helm and near the companionway. Each display uses a single Micro-C connection for both power and data when connected to the powered backbone, which keeps wiring simple and reduces extra point-to-point cabling behind the panel.

For the WS320, the usual workflow is pairing the masthead sensor to its interface at deck level before the sensor is installed aloft. The interface then mounts in a dry, accessible location and connects into the NMEA 2000 network. For the DST810, confirm the thru-hull location has clean water flow and a practical cable run back to the backbone, keeping it clear of bilge abrasion points and allowing access for periodic paddlewheel cleaning.

Compatibility and system integration

All components communicate over NMEA 2000, so the displays can show wind, depth, speed, and temperature immediately, and they can also repeat other data that is available on the network, such as heading, GPS information, and AIS targets when those sources are present. NMEA 2000 backbones are powered at 12 V (typically 9 to 16 V), so 24 V boats generally feed the network through an appropriate DC-DC converter.

The Triton2 display pages include sailing-focused views such as SailSteer and WindPlot, and the system can display compatible autopilot status over the network. With an optional Triton2 Pilot keypad, a display can act as a more complete pilot control point.

Maintenance and care

Keep the paddlewheel area clear of growth and check the sensor insert and seals during routine maintenance, especially on boats that live in the water year-round. For the WS320, periodic inspection of the masthead mounting, plus keeping the rechargeable power system topped up, helps maintain consistent wind data through a season of sailing.
