Overview
The B&G 000-13298-002 is a Triton2 speed and depth instrument pack that combines a 4.1-inch optically bonded transflective display with a DST-810 depth, speed, and water temperature sensor for NMEA 2000 networks.
The display is low-profile at 8 mm and front-mounts cleanly at the helm, with an IPX7 rating for spray and washdowns. The DST-810 uses a 235 kHz depth frequency, updates depth at 1 Hz and speed at 5 Hz, and operates from 9 to 16 V DC through the network. It supports depth readings from 0.5 m up to 100 m and speed through water up to 45 knots, giving you the core numbers sailors rely on when trimming sails, entering shallow anchorages, or checking set and drift against GPS.
Key features
- 4.1-inch (diagonal) transflective TFT-LCD with optical bonding to prevent condensation and fogging, plus 320 x 240 resolution for clear, readable numbers
- Day and night viewing support with white day mode and selectable night illumination (red, green, blue, or white)
- NMEA 2000 certified display that connects with a single Micro-C drop, carrying both power and network data
- Front-mount design with a clip-on bezel covering the mounting screws, and an 8 mm face thickness that stays out of the way at the helm
- IPX7-rated display housing for real-world cockpit exposure
- DST-810 thru-hull depth, speed, and temperature sensor with 235 kHz operation to reduce interference with other onboard echosounders
- Depth update rate of 1 Hz and speed update rate of 5 Hz for responsive speed-through-water data
- DST-810 supports hull deadrise up to 22 degrees and uses a self-closing valve to limit water flow when the insert is removed for service
What's included
- Triton2 digital display
- DST-810 depth, speed, and temperature sensor with plastic thru-hull housing
- NMEA 2000 Micro-C backbone kit
Installation and setup
The Triton2 display mounts from the front and keeps wiring simple because it only needs a single NMEA 2000 Micro-C connection. Plan the display location where it stays visible from your normal steering position and where the backside has enough clearance for the connector and strain relief.
The DST-810 is a thru-hull sensor, so placement matters. Pick a spot with clean water flow and minimal turbulence, typically away from strakes, steps, and intakes. The sensor supports deadrise angles up to 22 degrees, which covers many sailboat and cruising hulls, but it is still worth checking the local hull angle at the exact installation point before committing to the hole.
Compatibility and system integration
This pack is built around NMEA 2000, so it fits best on boats that already have a backbone in place or that want to start one. Both power and data ride on the NMEA 2000 network, and the devices run within a 9 to 16 V DC supply range. On 24 V boats, the NMEA 2000 network still needs a supply in that range, so the network power feed should be handled accordingly.
Beyond showing speed and depth, the display can present other data that is available on the network, such as wind, heading, AIS targets, and GPS data. It can also show B&G pilot status screens, which is useful when the boat's autopilot data is on the same network.
Use on board
This setup suits sailors who want straightforward speed-through-water and depth at the helm without building a full glass-bridge system. It also makes sense for coastal cruising and club racing where quick, readable numbers help with sail trim, tacking angles, and safe depth awareness while entering marinas or anchoring in tight coves.
Maintenance and care
Like any paddlewheel-based speed sensor, the DST-810 benefits from routine checks for growth and debris, especially in warm water or after long dockside periods. Keeping the wheel and sensor area clean helps speed readings stay stable.
The display face can be rinsed after salt spray and wiped with a soft cloth to avoid hazing. If you service the transducer insert, follow normal onboard precautions for thru-hull work and have the correct parts ready before opening the housing.
