Overview
The Vimar Net Safe 16359 is a modular RJ45 socket outlet for bringing a wired data connection to a clean, serviceable point on your boat. It uses T568A/B universal wiring with 8 contacts and comes in Cat5e or Cat6 versions, with unshielded (UTP) and shielded (FTP) options depending on the configuration.
Termination style depends on the variant: some use 110-type insulation-piercing terminals, and others use tool-free insulation-piercing terminals. Conductor range is 22-26 AWG (varies by configuration), and the connector is intended for round cable. This is a passive outlet and does not require a power feed.
On board, this style of RJ45 outlet is commonly used for neat panel or furniture installations at a nav station, inside an electronics cabinet, or at the helm where you want a fixed network jack without leaving loose patch leads exposed to spray.
Key features
- RJ45 8-contact outlet with T568A/B universal wiring

Variants
This outlet is offered in multiple configurations that vary by colour (Grey or White), cable category (Cat5e or Cat6), and shielding (UTP or FTP).
Termination method also varies across the range, with 110-type insulation-piercing versions and tool-free insulation-piercing versions. Across the range, the jack wiring remains T568A/B with 8 contacts.
Installation and setup
Match the outlet category to the cabling installed on board. Keep the cable twists as close to the termination as practical, and use the same wiring scheme (T568A or T568B) consistently from end to end. For shielded (FTP) installations, maintain shield continuity through the cabling system in the same way you would elsewhere in the network.
For 110-type versions, termination is done at the insulation-piercing terminals using the appropriate 110-style tooling. Tool-free versions terminate without special tools, which can be helpful when working in tight consoles or during quick refits.
Compatibility and fit
This is a Vimar modular connector intended for compatible Vimar device supports and plates used in the Net Safe structured wiring range. Confirm your existing frame and faceplate style and the preferred finish colour before ordering, and verify whether your build calls for UTP or FTP cabling and Cat5e or Cat6 performance.
Use cases on board
A fixed RJ45 outlet is a practical choice for boats that run wired data between a router, switch, and onboard electronics, and want a tidy jack at the helm, nav desk, or inside a distribution locker. It is also a good fit for refits where you are replacing a damaged network jack and want to stay consistent with an existing Vimar modular plate system.
