Overview
The Raymarine Axiom 2 Pro RVM is a multifunction chartplotter and fishfinder range for serious fishing boats, offshore center consoles, cruisers, and helm stations that need navigation, sonar, radar, autopilot, and video control from one display. It is available with 9.0 inch, 12.1 inch, and 15.6 inch displays, each running the LightHouse operating system with HybridTouch control for touchscreen use and keypad control when the boat is moving hard or the screen is wet.
Each Axiom 2 Pro RVM includes built-in RealVision MAX CHIRP sonar, a 1kW dual-channel CHIRP sonar port, internal GPS/GNSS, two RayNet Ethernet ports, NMEA 2000 connectivity through a DeviceNet connector, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, HDMI output, and front-mounted microSDXC card slots. The operating voltage range is 8 V dc to 32 V dc, so it suits both 12 V and 24 V marine electrical systems.
The display housing carries IPx6 and IPx7 waterproof ratings, with sunlight-readable IPS displays rated up to 1300 nits on the 9 inch model and 1200 nits on the 12 and 16 inch models. It is a strong fit for skippers who want a helm display that can handle fishfinding, route planning, engine and network data, and future expansion without building the system around separate standalone screens.
Key features
- Available in 9.0 inch, 12.1 inch, and 15.6 inch display sizes to match different helm layouts and viewing distances.
- Built-in RealVision MAX sonar supports High CHIRP, DownVision, SideVision, and RealVision 3D from the RealVision MAX transducer port.
- Separate 1kW dual-channel CHIRP sonar port supports deep-water fishing setups with a compatible CHIRP transducer.
- HybridTouch control gives the helm both touchscreen operation and physical keypad input for rough water, rain, spray, or gloved hands.
- Two RayNet Ethernet ports and NMEA 2000 connectivity allow integration with radar, autopilot, AIS, cameras, compatible engines, and additional Axiom displays.
- Internal GPS/GNSS supports GPS, Galileo, GLONASS, and Beidou, with a 10 Hz refresh rate for steady position updates while underway.
- IPx6 and IPx7 waterproof ratings help the display handle exposed helm installations, washdowns, spray, and changing weather.
- 64 GB solid-state internal storage, two front microSDXC card slots, HDMI output, analog video input, and audio connections support chart storage, media, and video integration.
- HydroTough screen coating helps shed water from the display surface, while smart backlighting and an ambient light sensor adjust brightness for day and evening use.
Variants
This range varies by display size and LightHouse chart package. The display options are 9 inch, 12 inch, and 16 inch, with each size offered either with no preloaded chart package or with LightHouse Charts North America.
The size choice affects helm fit, screen area, resolution, and power draw. The chart option affects whether the unit is supplied without charts or with the North America LightHouse chart package, while transducer selection remains a separate planning point for sonar performance and hull style.
Electrical and network integration
Axiom 2 Pro RVM works on 12 V dc and 24 V dc systems with an 8 V dc to 32 V dc operating range, a 5 A current rating, and a 15 A fuse rating. That range is helpful on boats where battery voltage can shift during engine start, charging, or long electronics-heavy days at the helm.
For system expansion, the unit uses two RayNet Ethernet ports rated at 10/100/1,000 Mbits/s and an NMEA 2000 DeviceNet connector. It can sit at the center of a larger Raymarine network with radar, autopilot, AIS, cameras, additional displays, and compatible engine data on the same helm system.
Sonar and transducer planning
The RVM version is the right Axiom 2 Pro platform when fishfinding is a major part of the installation. The RealVision MAX port supports a 25-pin RealVision MAX transducer connection for High CHIRP, DownVision, SideVision, and RealVision 3D sonar. The 11-pin 1kW CHIRP port supports a compatible 1kW transducer for deeper water work, with frequencies dependent on the transducer selected.
Transducer choice should be matched to the hull, fishing depth, mounting location, and the kind of sonar view needed. A transom-mount RealVision MAX setup suits many outboard fishing boats, while through-hull and 1kW CHIRP options may be better suited to larger hulls, offshore use, or installations where clean water flow under the transducer is critical.
Installation and helm fit
The 9 inch model is the easiest fit for compact consoles, secondary stations, or smaller hardtops where space is tight. The 12 inch model gives more chart and sonar area without taking over the helm, while the 16 inch model is better suited to wide dash panels and offshore helms where split-screen sonar, chart, radar, and data views are used often.
Surface and flush mounting dimensions vary by size, so the cutout, cable clearance, and viewing angle should be checked before ordering. The front microSDXC slots are useful when the display is flush mounted, since chart cards and data cards remain accessible from the front of the unit.
Use cases on board
This product is a good match for fishing-focused boats that need chartplotting and sonar on the same screen, especially where DownVision, SideVision, 3D sonar, and deep-water CHIRP all matter. It also fits cruising and offshore helms that need room to grow into radar, AIS, autopilot, camera, audio, and engine-data integration over time.
On a busy helm, the value is in having one display family that can cover navigation, fishfinding, system monitoring, and network expansion while still giving the operator hard-key control when the conditions are not friendly to touch-only operation.
