Overview
The Blue Sea Systems CableClam is an above-waterline cable pass-through range for routing antenna, transducer, and other marine cables through a deck, rooftop, transom, or bulkhead while helping protect the opening from water entry.
These fittings are useful when a cable already has a factory-installed connector that should not be cut off or re-terminated. Top-entry versions cover maximum cable diameters from 0.31 in to 0.56 in, with connector clearance up to 1.40 in depending on size. Side-entry versions suit cable runs that need to enter from the side and accept cable up to 0.28 in with connector clearance up to 1 in.
The range uses UV-stabilized thermoplastic rings and UV-stabilized Buna-N rubber seals. Selected versions add a 316 stainless steel dress cap for a cleaner deck finish and added cover over the mounting hardware.
Key features
- Above-waterline cable pass-through for antennas, transducers, coaxial cables, and similar onboard cable runs.
- Allows many factory-installed cable connectors to stay in place during installation, helping avoid unnecessary cutting, soldering, or re-termination.
- Top-entry options cover 0.31 in, 0.44 in, and 0.56 in maximum cable diameters, with matching connector clearance options of 0.68 in, 0.83 in, and 1.40 in.
- Side-entry options accept cable up to 0.28 in and connector diameter up to 1 in, useful where a lower side-mounted cable path fits the installation better.
- UV-stabilized Buna-N rubber seal helps keep the cable penetration protected in exposed deck and cabin-top locations.
- UV-stabilized thermoplastic ring supports use in sun-exposed marine installations above the waterline.
- 316 stainless steel dress cap options cover the mounting hardware and visually match stainless deck fittings.
Variants
This CableClam range varies by entry style, maximum cable diameter, connector clearance, and dress cap configuration. Top-entry versions are available in three cable sizes, while side-entry versions use a 0.28 in maximum cable diameter and a 1 in maximum connector diameter.
The versions without a dress cap keep the installation simpler and more functional. The versions with a 316 stainless steel dress cap give the installation a more finished look on visible deck, cabin-top, arch, or transom surfaces.
Installation and fit
Before drilling, confirm both the cable diameter and the widest connector diameter. The cable diameter determines seal fit, while the connector diameter determines whether the plug or factory connector can pass through the opening without removal.
Use the top-entry layout when the cable drops vertically through a deck or cabin top. Use the side-entry layout where the cable needs to approach from the side, such as along a rail, rooftop edge, arch, or transom surface.
Use on board
This product is a good match for boats adding or replacing antenna leads, transducer cables, network cables, or similar above-waterline runs where keeping the original connector intact matters. It is especially useful on installations where cutting a molded connector would risk a poor connection or void the cable assembly.
