Overview
The Jabsco 50900 is a fish box evacuation pump for moving water, meltwater, bait residue, ice particles, and fish scales out of fish boxes and similar onboard compartments. It uses a single diaphragm pump design with 1-1/2 in. (38 mm) hose connections and a flow rate of up to 5 US gpm (19 lpm), giving anglers a practical way to clear a fish box without relying on gravity drainage alone.
This pump range is available in 12V and 24V DC versions, so it can be matched to the boat’s electrical system. It is self-priming to 9.5 ft. (3 m), supports dry running, and does not require a filter, which is useful in a fish box where small debris is part of normal use.
The pump suits center consoles, sportfish boats, and cruising boats with fish boxes, fish wells, or cooler-style storage that needs active evacuation after fishing or dockside cleanup. Multi-positional ports and a 360 degree rotatable head help with tight installations where hose routing and service access matter.
Key features
- Single diaphragm pump made for fish box evacuation, including water mixed with bait residue, ice particles, and fish scales.
- Flow rate up to 5 US gpm (19 lpm) for clearing fish boxes and similar onboard compartments.
- Self-priming to 9.5 ft. (3 m), which helps when the pump is mounted above or away from the box outlet.
- 1-1/2 in. (38 mm) hose connections for use with non-collapsible marine waste hose.
- Dry running capability and no filter requirement reduce common clogging concerns in fish box service.
- Multi-positional ports and a 360 degree rotatable head make hose alignment easier in cramped lockers or below-deck spaces.
- Available in 12V DC and 24V DC versions for matching common onboard electrical systems.
- Meets USCG 183.410 and ISO 8846 ignition protection requirements, plus ISO 8849 marine bilge pump standard.
Variants
This product is offered in two voltage configurations for different DC systems on board.
The voltage changes between variants, while the fish box evacuation function, 1-1/2 in. hose connection size, diaphragm pump layout, dry running capability, self-priming rating, and rated flow remain consistent across the range.
- 50900-1000: 12V DC. This version fits boats with a 12V house or pump circuit and keeps the same fish box evacuation layout as the range.
- 50900-1100: 24V DC. This version fits vessels wired around a 24V DC system, often used on larger boats with higher-capacity electrical installations.
Installation and setup
Use 1-1/2 in. (38 mm) inside diameter, non-collapsible marine waste hose on the suction side so the hose does not flatten when the pump is pulling from the box. The pump can be mounted in more than one orientation, but when mounted vertically, the motor should sit above the pump head.
Rubber grommets help absorb vibration, which is useful when the pump is installed under a deck, inside a locker, or near occupied cockpit areas. For dependable service access, leave room around the pump head and hose fittings so the installation can be inspected, rinsed, and maintained after use.
Use on board
This pump is a good match for boats where the fish box sits below or partly below the waterline, or where the drain path cannot rely on gravity alone. It also works well for fish boxes that double as coolers, where water, melted ice, and small debris collect at the end of the day.
For saltwater fishing boats, the main buying points are the debris-tolerant diaphragm layout, the 1-1/2 in. hose size, and the ability to place the pump where the plumbing run makes sense instead of only at the lowest point of the compartment.
