Overview

The Lopolight 301-108 Series is a 3 nautical mile green starboard sidelight for horizontal mounting on vessels over 50 m (164 ft). It runs on 10-32 VDC, so it fits 12 V and 24 V DC systems, and it connects via a plug connector.

This light is IP68-rated for exposed locations where it will see spray and washdowns. Depending on the finish, the housing is silver anodized aluminum, black anodized aluminum, or white ceramic coated aluminum, with a PMMA lens and stainless fasteners. Operating temperature is -25°C to 55°C, with intensity listed at greater than 15 cd.

It is approved to COLREG72 and EN14744, with IEC 60945 and USCG listed approvals, for installations where you need a certified green sidelight sector (112.5°) on the starboard side.

Variants

This series is offered in Single Stack and Double Stack styles, with finish options in silver, black, and white.

The main fit differences are the stack height and the finish. Single Stack units are the shorter build, while Double Stack units are taller and used where a stacked configuration is preferred for redundancy at the same mounting location. Cable routing can also differ by finish: the white ceramic coated versions route the cable down only, while the silver and black anodized versions support side or bottom routing.

Installation and setup

Plan the mounting position as a true starboard sidelight location and keep the housing aligned so the 112.5° sector is not skewed by the hull angle or a sloped mounting pad. Use a flat, solid backing surface and avoid mounting points that flex, since vibration can work fasteners loose over time.

Dry-fit the unit first to confirm clearance for the plug connector and cable run before you drill. If you are replacing an older fixture, verify that the new base footprint and stack height will not interfere with toe rails, rub rails, or boarding gates.

Electrical and system integration

Wire it into the vessel navigation light circuit on 10-32 VDC and protect the circuit with an appropriately sized fuse or breaker for the run. With typical draw around 183 mA at 12 VDC and 110 mA at 24 VDC, voltage drop is usually manageable, but long runs still benefit from clean terminations and correct conductor sizing.

Route the harness away from high-heat areas and avoid tight bends right at the connector. In exposed runs, support the cable so the connector is not carrying the weight of the wiring and leave a small service loop for future removal.

Compatibility and fit

This is a green starboard sidelight, not a port (red) light or a combined fixture. It suits vessels in the over 50 m class where a 3 NM side light is required, so confirm the overall lighting plan for your vessel and the required approvals for your flag and operating area before installation.

Maintenance and care

Rinse the housing and lens with fresh water after salt exposure and washdowns. Use mild soap and a soft cloth on the lens, and avoid abrasive pads that can haze the PMMA surface and reduce clarity over time.
