Overview
The Garmin 010-01740-60/GMR18+ is a 10-inch GPSMAP 1042xsv chartplotter and fishfinder package that pairs built-in sonar and mapping with a GMR 18 HD+ radome radar and a GT52-TM transom-mount transducer.
At the helm you get a 10.1-inch keyed display (1024 x 600) that stays readable in sun and is easy to run when the boat is bouncing. The chartplotter is rated IPX7 and runs on 10 to 32 Vdc, which fits typical 12V and 24V systems. For sonar, it supports single-channel CHIRP up to 1 kW (RMS) and ClearVü and SideVü CHIRP at 260/455/800 kHz (500 W) for seeing structure and fish below and off the sides.
The included radar adds close-range tracking in traffic and poor visibility. The GMR 18 HD+ is a 4 kW, 18-inch radome with up to a 36 nm max range, a 20 m minimum range, and 24 rpm rotation speed. It runs on 11 to 35 V DC and can be overlaid on the chart page when you have a heading source in the system.
Key features
- 10.1-inch keyed GPSMAP 1042xsv display with 1024 x 600 resolution for quick operation with wet hands and in rough water
- Rated IPX7 and built with a polycarbonate housing and die-cast aluminum for typical helm exposure
- Chartplotter power input from 10 to 32 Vdc for 12V and 24V electrical systems
- Built-in single-channel CHIRP sonar up to 1 kW (RMS), plus ClearVü and SideVü CHIRP at 260/455/800 kHz (500 W)
- Includes GT52-TM transom-mount transducer for traditional CHIRP plus ClearVü and SideVü scanning sonar
- Includes GMR 18 HD+ radome radar: 4 kW transmit power, up to 36 nm max range, 20 m minimum range, and 24 rpm rotation speed
- Radar power input from 11 to 35 V DC to match common 12V and 24V onboard systems
- NMEA 2000 and NMEA 0183 support for integrating sensors and electronics at the helm
- Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, and ANT wireless connectivity for app features and on-screen notifications when paired
- Stores up to 5,000 waypoints, 100 routes, and 50,000 track points, plus dual SD card slots (up to 32 GB per card)
Installation and setup
The display can be bail-mounted or flush-mounted, which helps whether you are rigging a center console, a pilothouse dash, or a flybridge pod. Power is straightforward on DC systems, and the unit uses a 6 A fast-acting fuse in the power lead.
The GT52-TM transducer mounts on the transom, so placement and angle matter. It should sit where it stays in clean water at speed and clears trailer bunks, steps, and strakes. The radar mounts on a solid surface on a hardtop, arch, or mast where it has a clear sweep and is routed with its dedicated power and network cabling back to the helm.
Compatibility and system integration
This package is a good match when you want sonar, cartography, and radar working together on one screen without mixing brands or adapters. NMEA 2000 and NMEA 0183 support cover common integrations such as heading sensors, wind, AIS and VHF data, and autopilot control, depending on what is already installed on the boat.
For boaters who like to keep their system current, Wi-Fi and Bluetooth make it easier to handle updates and share data. The two SD card slots are handy for adding mapping, moving waypoints between stations, or keeping a dedicated card for app-related features.
Use on board
This setup makes sense for coastal cruising and fishing where you want a keyed plotter at the helm, scanning sonar for finding structure, and radar for tight inlet runs, fog, night entries, or busy harbor approaches. It is also a strong fit for repowers and electronics refreshes where you are building a cleaner network backbone and want room to add sensors over time.
Maintenance and care
Both the chartplotter and radar are built for wet environments, but they still last longer with simple habits: keep cable connections supported, avoid sharp bends at the back of the display, and rinse salt residue off the housing. The chartplotter water rating covers incidental exposure up to 1 m for up to 30 minutes, and routine freshwater rinse after salty runs helps keep keys and connectors in good shape.
