Overview

The Vimar Idea 16558 is a 4-position slide switch for fan-coil speed adjustment in the IDEA range. It is a 1P switch rated at 6 A and 250 V, with IP40 protection and a flush-mounted format for built-in installations.

For marine use, this type of switch makes the most sense in protected interior spaces where cabin climate control needs a simple manual control point. The body is made from thermoplastic plastic, it is halogen-free, and it has a matt finish. That makes it a practical fit for enclosed cabins, accommodation areas, or interior control panels that already use IDEA devices.

Variants

This switch is offered in two color configurations within the same IDEA fan-coil control format.

The listed difference between the variants is the finish color. The 1P 6(2) A 250 V rating, 4-position operation, IP40 protection, flush-mounted format, and thermoplastic construction remain the same across both versions.

• 16558 / Color Gray. A darker face that blends into switch layouts and interior panels with darker trim.
• 16558.B / Color Ivory. A lighter face for cabins and bulkheads finished in ivory or other light trim.

Installation and fit

This is a flush-mounted interior switch, so placement matters on board. It is better suited to cabins, enclosed helm areas, and other dry spaces than to open deck locations, spray zones, or areas that see regular washdowns.

Before ordering, it is worth checking the existing IDEA mounting setup and trim on the boat. Matching the module format and finish is usually just as important as matching the electrical rating when replacing a switch in an established panel.

Use on board

This switch is a good match for boats with fan-coil climate control that need manual speed selection at the cabin or control panel. It is most relevant where the vessel already uses Vimar IDEA devices and the goal is to keep the installation neat and consistent.
