Overview
The Vimar VM19338.1 is an RJ45 Cat. 5e UTP outlet in grey for terminating onboard data cabling at a wall plate or panel position.
It uses an AT&T/Lucent Technologies/Avaya/Systimax (MPS100E) connector format and supports T568A or T568B universal wiring with 8 contacts. Conductors terminate onto insulation-piercing terminals, which keeps the connection compact behind the faceplate.
This insert belongs to the Vimar Net Safe structured wiring range for the Arké device system and is commonly used to bring a fixed Ethernet point to spaces like the nav station, salon, or cabins.
Key features
- RJ45 outlet, Cat. 5e, unshielded (UTP) for standard twisted-pair networking
- AT&T/Lucent Technologies/Avaya/Systimax (MPS100E) connector format
- T568A/B universal wiring with 8 contacts
- Insulation-piercing terminals for punch-down style termination
- Conductor size limit: 1.6 mm maximum at the termination point
- Suitable for round and flat cable; not intended for litz wire conductors
- Cat. 5e handling note: keep pair untwist to 6.3 mm max at the connection
Compatibility and fit
This is a Vimar modular insert intended for the Arké system, so it fits into the matching Vimar supports and cover plates used for data outlets. It is not a loose keystone style jack.
Because the connection is unshielded, plan cable routing the same way you would for any UTP run on a boat: keep distance from high-current DC feeds, inverters, and ignition wiring where practical, and avoid tight bends right behind the outlet.
Installation and termination
Terminate the cable using the printed colour coding for either T568A or T568B, keeping the same standard end-to-end across the network. The conductors are pressed into the insulation-piercing terminals using pincers or a punch-down style tool.
For consistent Cat. 5e performance, keep the twist in each pair right up to the terminals and do not untwist more than 6.3 mm from the connection. Once terminated, clip the outlet into the cover and confirm the run with a basic cable tester before closing the panel.
Use cases on board
This outlet is a good match when you want a fixed Ethernet point for an onboard router, a media or work area connection, or IP-based accessories that live in protected interior spaces.
Maintenance and care
Keep the outlet in a dry location and check occasionally for signs of moisture or corrosion at the faceplate. If a network connection becomes intermittent, re-terminate the cable to ensure the conductors are fully seated in the insulation-piercing terminals.
