Overview
The Jl Audio 010-03508-00 is an 8-inch marine subwoofer for infinite-baffle installs with a white trim ring and a white low-profile Luxe grille.
It is a 4 O driver rated for 200 W RMS, with a recommended amplifier range of 50 to 200 W RMS. Sensitivity is 86.8 dB (1 W/1 m), which helps when you are balancing bass output with cockpit and cabin speakers.
For fit, the cutout is 8.625 in (219 mm) and the overall diameter is 10.25 in (260 mm). Plan on 6.30 in (160 mm) of clearance behind the mounting surface, plus about 0.48 in (12 mm) of grille protrusion in front.
Key features
- 8-inch marine subwoofer optimized for infinite-baffle (free air) mounting
- 4 O impedance, 200 W continuous (RMS) power handling
- Recommended amplifier power: 50 to 200 W RMS
- Runs best with at least 1.5 cu ft (42.5 L) of open air volume behind the driver in infinite-baffle installs
- Cutout: 8.625 in (219 mm); overall diameter: 10.25 in (260 mm)
- Clearance behind panel: 6.30 in (160 mm); grille protrusion: 0.48 in (12 mm)
- Injection-molded, mica-filled polypropylene cone with a rubber surround
- Grille and trim ring can be removed for painting to match a refit
Installation and setup
Infinite-baffle mounting means the back of the subwoofer vents into a large cavity instead of a sealed box. On boats, common locations are a helm side panel, cockpit seating base, cabin settee face, or a bulkhead that opens into a locker. The goal is to keep the front wave separated from the back wave, so the mounting panel needs to be stiff, well-sealed, and free of air leaks.
Leave room behind the driver for wiring and airflow and avoid packing gear tightly against the basket. If you are installing it in a dedicated sealed or ported enclosure instead of free air, use a rigid box plan sized for an 8-inch subwoofer and mount it where it stays dry.
Compatibility and system integration
This is a 4 O subwoofer, so verify your amplifier channel is stable at 4 O and can deliver clean power in the 50 to 200 W RMS range. Most systems come together when the sub channel is low-passed and the main speakers are high-passed, so smaller speakers are not working hard on deep bass.
Use tinned copper speaker wire with secure terminations and route it away from high-current power runs when possible. For open-cockpit installs, mount it where water does not sit against the grille, and make sure the space behind the panel has a path to drain and dry out.
Use on board
This subwoofer is a good match when you want more low end but do not have room for a large box. It fits well on center consoles, cruisers, and sport boats that have usable volume behind a bulkhead or inside a seat base, including setups that see regular vibration, spray, and sun.
Maintenance and care
Rinse salt off the grille during washdowns and avoid harsh cleaners on the cone and surround. If you plan to repaint the trim ring or grille, remove them first so paint does not clog the mesh or build up on the mating surfaces.
