Overview
The Garmin 010-12465-00 is an Airmar SS502 stainless steel thru-hull transducer that reads depth and water temperature on 50/200 kHz at 600 W through an 8-pin connection. It uses a 45° beam at 50 kHz and a 12° beam at 200 kHz, with a published maximum depth of 800 to 1,200 ft.
It is a stem-style thru-hull that stays in the water flow, which helps keep bottom tracking steady when you are moving. The attached cable is 33 ft long, giving enough reach for many center console, pilothouse, and flybridge runs without splicing.

Installation and fit
This is a thru-hull install that involves drilling the hull and bedding the stem with marine sealant, so many boats handle it during haul-out. Mounting location matters: keep it in clean, solid water and away from lifting strakes, steps, intakes, and running gear so the face is not seeing aerated water.
The published deadrise support for this model is 0°. On aluminum or steel hulls, keep the stainless stem electrically isolated from the hull to reduce the chance of electrolytic corrosion.
Compatibility and sonar setup
Confirm your sounder or chartplotter accepts an 8-pin transducer connection and supports a 600 W, 50/200 kHz transducer. On the water, 50 kHz is the wider 45° cone that helps in deeper water, while 200 kHz narrows to 12° for more precise returns in shallower depths.
This is a good match for coastal cruisers and anglers running traditional 50/200 kHz sonar who want depth and water temperature from a permanent thru-hull installation.
Maintenance and care
Keep the face free of growth so the sounder can hold bottom and read temperature accurately. If you apply antifouling around the transducer, use water-based coatings made for transducers and avoid ketone-based paints.
After launch, check around the inside of the hull for any seepage and recheck later the same day. Inspect the cable where it passes through bulkheads, add chafe protection as needed, and keep it separated from engine wiring when possible.
