Overview
The Garmin 010-11076-01CASE is a 6 m (20 ft) NMEA 2000 backbone/drop cable sold as a case pack for building or extending a NMEA 2000 network on board.
It uses NMEA 2000 micro connectors and can be run between T-connectors as a backbone extension, or from the top of a T-connector out to a device as a drop cable. At 6 m, it reaches the maximum length allowed for a single NMEA 2000 device drop, which helps when equipment is mounted far from the backbone.
Key features
- 6 m (20 ft) length per cable for longer backbone runs or the maximum-length NMEA 2000 device drop
- NMEA 2000 micro connector format for plug-and-play integration with micro-style networks
- Works as a backbone extension between T-connectors or as a drop cable from a T-connector to a device
- Compatible with other NMEA 2000 micro connectors, cables, and NMEA 2000-compatible devices
- Case pack quantity supports multi-device installs, refits, or keeping spares on hand
What's included
- Eight NMEA 2000 backbone/drop cables, 6 m (20 ft) each
Installation and setup
Build the backbone in a straight line using T-connectors, then connect each device to the top of its T-connector with a drop cable. Terminators must be installed at both ends of the backbone for the network to communicate.
NMEA 2000 network power is 12 Vdc and is normally fed into the backbone through a dedicated NMEA 2000 power cable at a single point on the network, with the circuit fused and switched. If the boat is 24 V, feed the NMEA 2000 power cable from a regulated 12 V source.
Route cabling so connectors stay supported and away from bilge water, leave a small service loop for future access, and protect the run from chafe at bulkheads, rigging tubes, and under-console pass-throughs.
Compatibility and fit
This cable is for NMEA 2000 networks that use micro connectors. If an existing backbone uses the larger NMEA 2000 mini connector style, an adapter is required to tie micro devices and cabling into that backbone.
It is commonly used when networking Garmin chartplotters and instruments alongside NMEA 2000 modules such as AIS, VHF, autopilot components, and fuel or engine gateway devices.
Use on board
On a center console, the 6 m length is often enough to reach from a helm backbone to a transom device area without adding intermediate couplers. On a sailboat, it can bridge from the nav station backbone toward the mast base or aft spaces when you want fewer connections in the run.
This case pack is a practical fit for installers outfitting multiple boats, or for refits where several new drops and backbone segments are being pulled at the same time.
