Overview

The Hella Marine NaviLED 360 Compact is a 2 NM all-round white LED navigation light for fixed (surface) mounting, built to run on Multivolt 9-33V DC systems. It is a good fit for boats that need an energy-light all-round white light for night running or anchor use, especially where battery capacity matters.

Power draw is less than 1W (0.08A at 12V / 0.04A at 24V), and the unit is sealed to IP67 for washdowns and wet weather. The housing is UV resistant high-impact plastic with a heavy duty Grilamid lens, and the electronics include spike protection up to +500V and reverse polarity protection up to -700V.

It is approved to IMO COLREG 72 and USCG requirements, with additional approvals including Wheelmark (MED), ABYC C-5, CE, UKCA, RCM, Maritime NZ, and Red Ensign.

Variants

This light is offered in multiple configurations to match common boat finishes.

The variants differ by housing color (black or white). Electrical characteristics, light output classification, and installation method remain the same.

• 980960001: Color Black. A straightforward match for darker hardtops, arches, and rail hardware while keeping the same 2 NM all-round white function.
• 980960011: Color White. Blends in cleanly on white decks, cabins, and masts while keeping the same 2 NM all-round white function.

Installation and setup

This is a fixed surface-mount style light that mounts on a flat surface with the cable routed through a center pass-through. For a clean, dry install, seal the cable pass-through and fasteners, and keep the mounting base parallel to the vessel waterline so the beam pattern stays correct.

For best visibility, mount it where the 360 degree arc is not blocked by antennas, radar, davits, or rigging. On power-driven vessels under 12 m, the all-round white is typically installed at least 1 m higher than the sidelights.

Electrical and system integration

The light uses a simple two-wire DC connection (not a networked device). Wire color coding is red to positive (+) and black to negative (-). A fuse rated at 5A maximum is recommended for circuit protection, and connections should be sealed against moisture with marine-grade heat-shrink or an equivalent method.

Use cases on board

This lamp makes sense for skippers who want a certified 2 NM all-round white light while keeping battery draw low for overnight anchoring or long evening runs. It also suits boats that see vibration and impact in normal use, where filament bulbs are a weak link.
