Overview

The Vimar Idea 16140 is a modular 1-pole 2-way switch for flush-mounted Vimar IDEA installations where you need directional control from one rocker. It uses a 3-terminal layout with directional arrows and a central OFF position, is rated 10 AX at 250 V~, and carries IP40 protection for interior locations.

On a boat, this switch fits best in enclosed cabin panels, protected helm stations, and other built-in control points that stay clear of direct spray. The body is made from halogen-free thermoplastic with a matte untreated surface, and it installs with snap fastening in the supporting frame.

It also includes a label surface for circuit identification and runs as a non-illuminated switch with no monitoring contact. For self-ballasted lamp loads, the published limit is 100 W.

Variants

This product is offered in two color configurations within the same IDEA switching format.

Across both variants, the switching layout stays the same: 1-pole, 10 AX, 250 V~, 3 terminals, central OFF position, built-in snap mounting, and IP40 protection. The visible difference between them is the front color.

• VM16140.B: Color Ivory. This version keeps a lighter look on panels and trim where a pale switch finish is preferred.
• VM16140: Color Gray. This version suits panels that already use the gray IDEA device color.

Compatibility and fit

This switch is part of the Vimar IDEA series, so it is intended for IDEA-compatible mounting frames, supports, and cover plates. The single-rocker format makes it a straightforward replacement when the rest of the installation already uses the same modular family.

The confirmed rating is for AC service at 250 V~ and 10 AX. For onboard use, that makes it better suited to cabin and helm switching points that stay sheltered, rather than exposed deck locations or washdown areas. IP40 is appropriate where the switch is protected from direct water exposure.
