Overview
The Garmin 010-12097-00 is a power cable with a right-angle 2-pin connector that threads onto compatible Garmin black box sonar power ports. It gives you a 6 ft (2 m) run and keeps the plug tucked close to the unit, which helps when the module is mounted in a tight electronics bay or against a bulkhead.
This cable makes sense for replacing a damaged lead or for new installs where a straight connector would press into a panel or force a hard bend in the wiring. The threaded collar helps keep the connection from backing off when the boat is vibrating or the harness gets bumped during service.
Key features
- Right-angle 2-pin threaded connector to secure onto compatible Garmin black box sonar power ports.
- 6 ft (2 m) cable length for short runs inside a helm, electronics box, or rigging chase.
- Right-angle plug reduces bend stress at the back of the sonar module when clearance is limited.
- Threaded connection helps prevent accidental loosening from vibration on rough-water days.
Installation and setup
Route the cable so it is supported and protected from chafe, especially where it passes through fiberglass, aluminum, or rigging tubes. Use grommets and clamps, and leave enough slack at the connector so the cable is not pulling on the sonar module.
Connect to a properly protected DC circuit and match the fuse or breaker value to the sonar unit requirements. Confirm the sonar module and the boat system voltage are compatible before powering up.
Compatibility and fit
This cable is intended for Garmin black box sonar units that use the threaded 2-pin power connection. If your existing plug is a different pin count or does not use a threaded collar, it will not mate correctly.
Maintenance and care
Keep the connector threads clean and hand-tighten the collar. In damp lockers or salt-heavy environments, check the connection periodically for corrosion and look for any spots where the cable jacket is rubbing through.
