Overview
The Garmin 010-10106-20 is a transom-mount TRIDUCER multisensor that reads depth, speed, and water temperature through a single 8-pin transducer connection. It combines a sonar element with a paddlewheel for speed and a temperature sensor, which helps keep the transom area simpler when you want all three readings without multiple pickups.
This is a practical fit for small inboard/outboard boats, jet boats, and other general-purpose hulls where a transom-mount install makes sense. The mounting bracket includes a kick-up feature to help the sensor move out of the way if it strikes debris or a trailer guide, and it has 19 mm (3/4 in) of vertical adjustment to fine-tune the running depth.
Key features
- Three readings from one transom-mounted unit: depth, speed (paddlewheel), and water temperature
- 8-pin connector for straightforward connection to compatible Garmin sounder and chartplotter transducer ports
- Noise shielding to help keep depth returns readable when the boat is running through electrical or mechanical interference
- Kick-up bracket helps reduce damage risk from minor impacts and trailering mishaps
- Square-blade paddlewheel tracks speed across a wider range than older rounded-wheel styles
- Chemical- and impact-resistant plastic housing suited for exposed transom mounting
- 19 mm (3/4 in) bracket vertical adjustment for dialing in clean water flow across the sensor
Installation and setup
Mount the sensor where it stays in clean, aeration-free water at speed, typically on the transom away from heavy turbulence created by steps, strakes, and prop wash. A careful height adjustment matters for both depth performance and accurate paddlewheel speed, so plan on test runs and small tweaks using the built-in vertical adjustment.
The kick-up bracket is there to protect the unit, but it should still be positioned so it will not interfere with the trailer, transom hardware, or lifting straps. Route the cable with drip loops and chafe protection, and keep it clear of moving steering components.
Compatibility and fit
This unit uses an 8-pin transducer plug, so confirm your display or sounder has the matching transducer port. Also confirm that your system supports paddlewheel speed input if you plan to use that function, since some installations rely on GPS speed instead.
Use cases on board
This setup is a good match for boaters who want depth, speed, and temperature from a single transom pickup on coastal runs, fishing trips, and day cruising. It is also helpful on smaller boats where transom space is limited and keeping the install tidy reduces snag points around the swim platform and trailer.
Maintenance and care
Rinse the housing after saltwater use and keep the paddlewheel free of growth so speed readings stay consistent. Periodically check the bracket hardware for tightness, confirm the sensor has not shifted height after impacts, and inspect the cable jacket where it passes through clamps and transom fittings.
