Overview
The B&G 000-11544-001 is a dedicated pilot controller for B&G H5000 Pilot systems, giving you direct autopilot control and setup from an 8-key keypad and a 2 inch monochrome display (128 x 64 pixels). It is rated IPX7 and connects to the CAN bus backbone using a Micro-C lead, so it can be added wherever it makes sense on the network.
At the helm it works well as the primary pilot control, and it can also be mounted as a second station alongside a Zeus chartplotter. The footprint is compact at about 119 mm x 70 mm with about 32 mm behind the panel, and typical power draw is 1.2 W (100 mA at 12 V), with a 1.6 W (130 mA at 12 V) maximum.
Key features
- Compatible with B&G H5000 Pilot systems (pilot computer required); connects anywhere on the CAN bus backbone
- 2 inch transflective monochrome display with 128 x 64 pixel resolution for clear pilot feedback in changing light
- IPX7 environmental protection for exposed helms and wet conditions
- 8-key interface with dedicated AUTO and STBY keys plus 1 degree and 10 degree course adjustments
- Non Follow Up steering access from the course keys while in standby, for hands-on dockside and close-quarters control
- NMEA 2000 equivalent load of 3 LEN to help with network power planning
- Safe compass distance: 0.3 m (1.0 ft.)
- Compact flush-mount form factor (about 119 mm x 70 mm, 32 mm depth) suited to crowded helm panels
What’s included
- H5000 Pilot controller
- Micro-C connection lead
- T-Joiner
- Bezels
- Mounting screws (x4)

Installation and setup
This controller is typically flush mounted at the helm or near a nav station where the display is easy to see while steering. Plan cable routing so the Micro-C lead reaches the backbone cleanly; the standard lead is about 0.4 m and can be extended up to 6 m. Keep enough clearance behind the panel to avoid tight bends at the cable exit and to maintain access for service.
For best readability and longer life in bright sun, mount it where spray can drain off the face rather than pooling, and use the supplied cover when the boat is not in use.
Compatibility and system integration
It is intended for use with the B&G H5000 Pilot and ties into the boat’s CAN bus backbone via Micro-C. Since it is powered from the network, confirm the backbone power feed and device loading can support an additional 3 LEN, and keep proper network termination and drop practices in place. Allow at least 0.3 m (1.0 ft.) of separation from a magnetic compass.
On-board use
This is a good match for performance sailboats and cruising boats running an H5000 Pilot that want a dedicated keypad for quick engage, standby, and course changes without needing to navigate autopilot menus on a chartplotter. It also fits well on boats that benefit from a second pilot control point, such as a cockpit pedestal plus a protected nav station.
Maintenance and care
Rinse salt residue off with fresh water after hard spray days, and avoid abrasive cleaners on the display window. Check the mounting seal periodically, especially on exposed helms that see washdowns, and keep the sun cover on when the unit is idle to reduce UV and heat exposure.
