Overview
The B&G 000-11552-001 is a H5000 barometric pressure sensor that sends atmospheric pressure readings to the instrument network for trend tracking and onboard weather awareness.
It reports pressure with 0.1 mb resolution over an industry-standard CAN network and is powered through the network at 12 V nominal (9-16 V). The module measures 61 x 131 x 45 mm (2.4 x 5.2 x 1.8 in), which fits well behind panels or in other protected interior mounting spots.
Key features
- Barometric pressure measurement with 0.1 mb resolution for monitoring pressure trends on the water
- CAN network connection suitable for H5000 systems, with power delivered through the network
- 12 V nominal supply via network (9-16 V operating range) with typical draw under 50 mA (1 LEN equivalent)
- Compact housing size: 61 x 131 x 45 mm (2.4 x 5.2 x 1.8 in)
- Reverse-polarity protection to help reduce risk during installation and commissioning
- ABS plastic housing intended for protected mounting locations
Compatibility and fit
This sensor is intended for B&G H5000 instrument networks that distribute data over a CAN backbone. Once installed, the pressure value is available anywhere on the network for compatible displays and system functions that use environmental data.
Because it is network-powered, plan for a properly powered instrument backbone in the 9-16 V range. On vessels with 24 V house systems, the backbone still needs a 12 V feed, as is typical for NMEA 2000-style networks.
Installation and setup
Mount the sensor in a protected location where cabin air can reach it. Avoid sealing it inside an airtight locker, and keep it away from direct spray and areas that see rapid temperature swings, since those conditions can make pressure trends less useful.
After wiring it into the network, verify the sensor appears on the system and select it as the barometric pressure source in your H5000 setup so the reading is consistent across displays and pages.
Use cases on board
Pressure trends are handy for coastal cruising and offshore passages when you want an early warning that conditions are changing, as well as for race programs that keep an eye on subtle weather shifts.
This sensor is a practical add-on for boats already running an H5000 instrument suite and looking to keep pressure data inside the same network as wind, speed, and heading.
