Overview
The Lopolight Tri-color nav light with Windex mount is a masthead tri-color navigation light with a flat base, rated for 1 NM visibility and built for 10-32 VDC systems.
It uses the standard sector layout for a sailboat tricolor (red 112.5 degrees, green 112.5 degrees, white 135 degrees) and is approved to COLREG72. The FB base keeps the installation low profile at about 92.5 mm diameter by 36 mm high, which helps when space is tight at the masthead.
The light is IP68 rated and draws 2.6 W (about 150 mA at 12 VDC or 81 mA at 24 VDC). A 0.75 m shielded marine-grade cable is factory attached.
Key features
- Tri-color sector output: red 112.5 degrees, green 112.5 degrees, white 135 degrees
- 1 NM visibility rating for leisure sailboats under 12 m
- 10-32 VDC input with low draw (2.6 W; 150 mA at 12 VDC, 81 mA at 24 VDC)
- IP68 sealing for rain, spray, and washdowns
- Flat base mounting supports fastening from the top or from underneath (three-hole pattern)
- Approved to COLREG72, EN14744, IEC 60945, and IACS E10
Variants
This product is offered in two housing finishes.
The finish is the only difference between variants; mounting and electrical ratings remain the same.
- 101-005W-FB - Finish Silver. A silver anodized look that blends with many aluminum spars and mast fittings.
- 101-005W-FB-B - Finish Black. A black anodized look that pairs well with darker spars, carbon rigs, and black deck hardware.
What's included
- Navigation light, pre-cabled with a 0.75 m shielded marine-grade cable
- Installation guide
Installation and wiring
Mount the light on a level, horizontal surface with a clear view around the horizon so sails, antennas, and wind gear do not block the sectors. This style of light is commonly installed at the masthead on sailboats under 12 m.
The FB base supports fastening from the top using three 4.4 mm clearance holes, or from underneath using three M4 x 0.7 threaded holes (6 mm deep). Route the cable through the center and seal any mast penetrations so water cannot track down the wiring.
Connect to a 10-32 VDC supply on a protected lighting circuit and use sealed splices if you extend the lead. Minimum feed wire gauge is 0.5 mm2 (AWG 22); go larger if the run is long to keep voltage drop under control.
Materials and environmental resistance
The housing is anodized aluminum with a PMMA (acrylic) lens and A4 stainless steel screws. IP68 sealing and the use of epoxy and polyurethane compounds in the build help it stay stable in vibration and wet conditions, with an operating temperature range of -25°C to 55°C.
On-board fit and use cases
This is a good match for sailors who want a single masthead tricolor when underway under sail and also want a tidy way to keep the Windex mount and navigation light together at the top of the spar.
It suits coastal cruisers and race boats running 12 V or 24 V power who want low electrical draw without giving up clear sector definition.
Maintenance and care
Rinse the lens and housing with fresh water after saltwater use and wipe away salt film that can dull the lens. Periodically check the mounting screws and inspect the cable where it enters the spar for chafe.
