Overview
The Hella Marine 3720 is an LED chart table lamp that mounts on a table and uses a flexible arm so you can put light right on the work area. It runs on 9-31V DC for 12V and 24V systems and draws under 2W (under 0.16A at 12V).
This range is available with white light (4000K), red light, or a dual-colour white/red head. With an IP53 rating, it suits interior areas that may get damp air or an occasional splash, rather than exposed locations that see direct washdowns.
It is a practical fit for skippers and navigators who want focused light on charts and instruments, and for night running where switching to red helps preserve dark-adapted vision.
Key features
- Multivolt 9-31V DC input for 12V and 24V onboard systems
- Under 2W draw (under 0.16A at 12V and under 0.08A at 24V) for low battery impact at anchor
- White output is 4000K, with red and dual-colour white/red options depending on version
- Available with 150mm or 400mm flexible arm length for different chart table layouts
- IP53 protection for interior use where moisture and spray can happen
- UV and impact resistant plastic housing
- Low EMC noise to help reduce the chance of interference with radio communications
- Pre-wired with 120mm of twin-core cable for straightforward tie-in to existing wiring
Variants
This lamp is offered in multiple configurations to match your mounting location and how you use light at night.
Arm length and light colour are what change across the range. Single-colour versions switch on and off with a rubber button beside the lens, while dual-colour versions use a rotary dial on the head for on and off control, colour selection, and dimming.
- 343720522: 150mm arm with White/Red output. The shorter reach works well on tight nav stations where the light needs to stay close to the chart.
- 343720622: 400mm arm with White/Red output. The longer arm helps when you need to reach across a wider chart table or clear instruments.
- 346720022: 150mm arm with White output (4000K). A clean white task light for daytime plotting and general nav table work.
- 346720122: 400mm arm with White output (4000K). Extra reach for larger chart tables while keeping the same white appearance.
- 343720152: 400mm arm with Red output. Red light is useful for keeping night vision when running after dark.
Installation and setup
Plan the mounting spot so the head can swing over the work surface without the arm fouling nearby trim, instrument pods, or locker lids. Leave a clean path for the wiring to drop into the panel or into a junction point under the table.
The lamp is supplied with stainless steel mounting screws. Because the unit is pre-wired with a short lead, most installs tie into a terminal block or extend the run with marine-grade cable and sealed connections.
Electrical and system integration
These LED modules are polarity conscious. Reverse polarity will not damage the lamp, but it will not illuminate until the wiring is corrected. Protect the circuit with a fuse rated at 5A maximum.
If you are extending the wiring, soldered joints with heat shrink sealing help keep corrosion out in a salty cabin environment, especially around nav stations that see wet foul-weather gear and damp air.
Materials and corrosion notes
The housing is UV and impact resistant plastic. Arm material depends on the version: single-colour lamps use a coated steel arm, while dual-colour lamps use a 316 stainless steel arm. For boats that live in humid cabins or see frequent salt air below decks, keeping the arm wiped down after wet passages helps preserve the finish over time.
Maintenance and care
Wipe the housing and lens with a soft cloth and mild soap as needed, then dry it. Avoid harsh solvents on the plastic lens and housing, and check the mounting screws occasionally if the lamp is installed in an area that sees vibration underway.
