Overview

The TACO Marine F38-8800 Series is a low-profile 4-LED deck light for flat-mount use on hard tops, leaning posts, consoles, interior cabins, under gunnels and bait wells. It produces 700 lumens of white light with a 100-degree spread beam, giving broad flood-style coverage for work areas, cockpit lighting and onboard visibility without the bulk of a larger fixture.

This light works with 12 to 24 volt DC systems and draws .9 amps at 12V or .5 amps at 24V. The housing measures 5-1/8 inches long, 1-3/8 inches wide and 1/2 inch high, so it fits neatly on narrow flat surfaces where a flush, tidy installation matters.

The LED chips are silicone potted for an IP67 waterproof non-submersible rating, and the housing uses UV-resistant polycarbonate with a clear self-extinguishing plastic lens and anodized aluminum heat sink. It is also USCG, ISO and SAE certified for Ignition Protection, which makes it suitable for areas where fire safety is a key concern, including engine rooms and battery compartments.

Variants

This flat-mount deck light is offered in two housing colors. Both configurations use white LEDs, the same 700-lumen output and the same 12 to 24 volt electrical range.

The main difference is the visible housing finish, which lets the light blend with either lighter fiberglass surfaces or darker helm, hardtop and console details.

• F38-8800W-1: White housing. This version suits white fiberglass, light-colored hard tops and installations where the fixture should visually recede into the surrounding surface.
• F38-8805W-1: Black housing. This version suits dark consoles, black hardware, powder-coated structures and installations where a darker fixture finish is a better visual match.

Installation and setup

The compact body works well where space is limited, including under gunnels, inside bait wells, on leaning posts and around console work areas. The flat-mount layout is straightforward for new installations or replacements when the mounting surface has enough room for the 5-inch by 1-3/8-inch footprint.

The 8-foot hidden power cable helps keep wiring out of sight and gives installers room to route power back through tubing, pipe or nearby structure. Wire chafe guards are included for wire runs through tube or pipe, which is useful on hard tops, leaning posts and similar marine structures where vibration and edge contact can damage wiring over time.
