Overview
The Victron Energy ASS030066004 is an RJ12 UTP cable for connecting a Victron BMV battery monitor shunt to the BMV head unit. This 0.3 m length is useful when the monitor display and shunt are mounted close together, such as inside a compact electrical locker, behind a DC panel, or near a battery compartment where excess cable would only add clutter.
On a boat, a clean battery monitor installation matters because the display needs a steady communication link to the shunt. This cable gives a short replacement or alternate-length option for BMV setups when the standard RJ12 cable supplied with the monitor is not the right length for the installation.
Key features
- RJ12 UTP cable for the connection between a Victron BMV shunt and BMV head unit.
- 0.3 m length helps keep close-mounted battery monitor installations tidy.
- Useful as a replacement cable when the original BMV RJ12 cable is missing, damaged, too long, or too short.
- Part of the Victron RJ12 cable range, with other lengths available for layouts where the display and shunt are mounted farther apart.
- Fits battery monitoring work on cruising boats, fishing boats, and service panels where neat routing around batteries and DC equipment is important.
Installation and setup
Route the cable between the BMV shunt and the monitor head unit without sharp bends, pinching, or strain at the connectors. In a marine electrical space, it is good practice to secure communication cables away from moving gear, hot surfaces, and high-current DC cabling where practical.
The short 0.3 m length is best suited to installations where both BMV components are close together. For helm displays, remote panels, or longer cable runs from the battery bank to the display location, a longer RJ12 cable length may be more appropriate.
Use on board
This cable is a practical fit for owners and installers tidying up a Victron BMV battery monitor installation, replacing a misplaced RJ12 lead, or shortening an existing run in a cramped electrical compartment. It is especially useful where clean cable management is as important as the connection itself.
