Overview
The Lumitec 101906 is a 39 in (99.6 cm) masthead combo navigation light with an Angler motorized base for boats on 10-30 VDC systems. It combines a 3 NM masthead light, a 3 NM all-round anchor light, and a 2 NM stern light in one pole so you can run “underway” and “at anchor” lighting without stacking multiple fixtures.
The motorized base lets you extend the light when you need full visibility, then collapse it for trailering, storage, or low bridges. The housing is IP67 rated for rain and washdowns, and the 39 in white shaft format is a common fit for T-tops, hardtops, and radar arches where you want height without a bulky head unit.
This setup makes sense for center consoles, pilothouse boats, and sportfishing rigs that want one powered mast for running and anchor modes, with a stow option that keeps the profile down at the dock.
Key features
- Runs on 10-30 VDC for both 12V and 24V boats
- 39 in (99.6 cm) overall height pole with a motorized base that collapses and extends
- Three navigation functions in one unit: masthead (3 NM), all-round anchor (3 NM), and stern (2 NM)
- IP67 rating for exposed mounting locations and routine washdowns
- Separate wiring groups for cleaner installs: a sheathed cable for the light circuits plus dedicated motor-control leads
- Electrical load for planning: light 185 mA at 12V (95 mA at 24V); motor 1.3 A at 12V (0.8 A at 24V)
Installation and setup
Plan the mounting spot so the unit can fully collapse and extend without contacting antennas, outriggers, rocket launchers, or canvas. A flat mounting surface helps the base sit correctly, and bedding sealant around the wire exit and fasteners helps keep water out of the core.
The mounting template calls for four #10 self-tapping screws and a 25 mm wire exit hole. A protective bump pad mounted on the hardtop within 12 inches of the light head is used to reduce mast bounce when the boat is moving.
Electrical and switching
Two wire sets exit the base. The motor uses four loose wires: red for positive, black for negative, plus orange and green signal leads for the powered switching logic. The light head uses four wires in the sheathed cable: black negative, white for masthead, blue for anchor, and brown for stern (the stern circuit is optional).
In typical helm wiring, the anchor (blue) runs on its own powered switch, while masthead (white) and stern (brown) run together on a separate powered switch for underway lighting. For the motor controls, the orange and green signal leads are kept on opposing functions so the base behaves correctly in “at anchor” and “running” modes.
Compatibility and placement notes
This light meets USCG and NMMA C5 2021 requirements, and correct placement matters as much as wiring. Mount it where the all-round light has an unobstructed 360 degree view, and avoid being blocked by masts or structures that create an angular sector greater than 6 degrees.
If you are replacing an older pole light, compare the overall 39 in height and the collapsed clearance against your existing mount location, especially on boats that live under a cover or slide into a tight shed.
Maintenance and care
Rinse with fresh water after salt exposure and avoid chemical cleaners or solvents that can haze or damage plastic components. Navigation lights are safety gear, so it is worth checking function at the switch panel regularly and confirming the light is still meeting visibility requirements as it accumulates hours of use.
