Overview
The Lumitec Capri2 is a flush-mount LED flood and spreader light for decks, cockpits, hardtops, and other working areas on board. In white mode it produces 1,000 lumens at 16 W and runs on 10-30 VDC, so it fits common 12 V and 24 V systems.
Capri2 is a dual-color light: every version gives you dimmable white plus either dimmable blue or dimmable red. Control is built in, so it can be wired as a simple 2-wire light on a standard on/off switch and still handle dimming and color changes.
The housing is sealed to IP67 for spray and washdowns, with a die-cast aluminum body and a heat-tempered glass lens. Overall size is about 4.94 in x 1.75 in with a 1.57 in depth, which helps when planning the cutout and clearance behind the mounting surface.
Key features
- 10-30 VDC input for 12 V and 24 V electrical systems
- 16 W, 1,000-lumen white output, 5,000 K white color temperature, CRI 70+
- Current draw: 1.3 A at 12 VDC, 600 mA at 24 VDC
- Dual-color output with dimming using timed toggle switching, no external control module required
- 2-wire hookup and third-party dimmer compatibility
- IP67 sealed body with die-cast aluminum construction and a heat-tempered glass lens
- Over-temperature protection that turns the light back on after it cools
- PLI enabled for control over the power wires when paired with compatible Lumitec lighting control
- Tested for harsh environments with 2,000+ hours of ASTM B-117 salt spray testing
Variants
Capri2 is offered in multiple configurations that change the housing finish and the secondary color output.
Across the range, the electrical range (10-30 VDC), 16 W rating, IP67 sealing, dimensions, and the 1,000-lumen white mode remain the same. Variants differ by black or white housing and whether the alternate mode is blue or red, with dimming available on both outputs.
- 101186: Finish Black, Light color White/Blue (dimming). The black housing blends into dark hardtops, arches, and tower structures while keeping blue available for lower-glare deck lighting.
- 101099: Finish White, Light color White/Blue (dimming). The white housing pairs well with light gelcoat and liners, with a blue mode that works well for low-key cockpit and deck use.
- 101187: Finish Black, Light color White/Red (dimming). Red output supports night operations where preserving night vision matters, with a black housing that stays visually discreet.
- 101100: Finish White, Light color White/Red (dimming). A clean look for lighter surfaces, with red available for moving around the boat after dark without blasting the cockpit with white light.
Installation and setup
This is a recess-mounted light that sits flush once installed. Mounting holes are sized for #6 self-tapping screws, and the cutout should be planned so the back of the fixture has airflow. Keep at least 1 in of clearance around the sides and rear to help with heat dissipation.
The light can run warm during use, so avoid mounting to surfaces that are highly flammable or especially heat-sensitive. In exposed locations, protect the wiring connection, leave a drip loop, and keep seals clean during final fit-up.
Electrical and control
Wire it as a standard DC light with positive and negative conductors. With timed toggle control, the light ramps up on start; a brief off/on toggle during the ramp holds a dimmed level, and another quick toggle switches to the alternate color mode.
If your boat uses Lumitec PLI control, the fixture can receive control instructions over the same power wires when connected to compatible Lumitec digital lighting control hardware.
Compatibility and fit
Capri2 fits deck and spreader lighting jobs where you want a flush face and a wide flood pattern, such as under a hardtop, on a radar arch, along the cockpit coaming, or on a cabin brow. The white output is 5,000 K, which reads as a clean task light for line handling and dock work.
Plan your circuit for about 1.3 A per light on a 12 V system or 600 mA per light on a 24 V system, then size wiring and fusing for the total number of fixtures on that run.
Materials and corrosion resistance
The body is die-cast aluminum with a glass lens, and the assembly is sealed to IP67. It has been run through ASTM B-117 salt spray testing for over 2,000 hours, which is relevant for installations that see washdowns, salt mist, and vibration.
Use on board
White mode works for docking, prepping gear, and working the foredeck. Blue mode suits low-key deck lighting at anchor, and red mode supports night running and cockpit movement when you want to keep night vision intact.
This light is a good match for owners who want dual-color control from a basic switch, while keeping the option to integrate into a PLI-based lighting system.
Maintenance and care
Rinse the lens and housing with fresh water after saltwater use. Clean the glass with mild soap and water, and avoid abrasive pads that can scratch the surface.
