Overview
The Garmin 010-01966-11 is a GT51M-THP stainless steel thru-hull transducer pair for traditional CHIRP plus CHIRP ClearVü and SideVü scanning sonar using a 12-pin connection. Traditional sonar runs mid-band CHIRP 80 to 160 kHz at 600 W, and the ClearVü and SideVü elements run 260 and 455 kHz at 500 W per element.
This is a port and starboard set that installs on both sides of the keel so the side-looking beams stay clear. It also includes a fast-response temperature sensor, and it is intended for hull deadrises under 25 degrees at the mounting location.
Key features
- Thru-hull port and starboard transducer pair for ClearVü and SideVü scanning plus traditional CHIRP sonar
- Traditional CHIRP: 600 W, mid-band 80 to 160 kHz
- ClearVü and SideVü elements: 500 W per element, 260 and 455 kHz
- 12-pin connection through an included Y-cable to combine the pair at the display or sonar module
- Built-in fast-response temperature sensor for real-time surface readings
- Stainless steel stems and thru-hull mounting hardware for secure installation below the waterline
- Specified for hull deadrises less than 25 degrees at the install point
Installation and setup
Plan the install as a true pair: one transducer on the port side and one on the starboard side, positioned so the keel does not block SideVü coverage. Fairing blocks are used to match the transducer to the hull angle; when the deadrise at the mounting location exceeds 5 degrees, a fairing block is required, and the cutting angle is limited to 25 degrees.
Because this is a thru-hull installation, take the same care you would with any below-waterline fitting: confirm internal clearance before drilling, seal any exposed core, and bed the hardware properly so it stays watertight through temperature swings and vibration.
Compatibility and fit
This transducer set is meant for Garmin sonar systems that support traditional CHIRP plus ClearVü and SideVü scanning and accept a 12-pin transducer connection. Match the supported sonar types and frequency ranges to your display or black box before ordering, especially if you are moving from an 8-pin or older transducer style.
Use cases on board
On coastal runs, reef fishing, and deeper structure work, this setup gives you a traditional CHIRP view for arches and bottom separation alongside scanning views that help you read edges, bait, and bottom changes to both sides of the boat. It is a good match for boats where a single side-looking transducer would have its view shaded by the keel.
Maintenance and care
Rinse the exterior after saltwater use and keep the faces clear of paint buildup and marine growth so the sonar stays consistent. During routine haul-out or diver checks, inspect the stems, bedding, and cable routing for signs of movement, abrasion, or seepage.
