Overview
The Vimar VM13022.A is an IP40 surface enclosure for mounting two 8000 Series standard modules on a bulkhead, panel, or cabinet face when you cannot recess a box behind the surface. It comes in an ivory finish (RAL 7035) and keeps the installation compact, with overall dimensions around 6.8 x 9.3 x 5.6 cm.
IP40 means it helps keep fingers and larger debris out of the wiring space (solid objects larger than 1 mm), but it is not sealed against water. On a boat, it suits dry interior locations like cabins, nav stations, and enclosed helm areas rather than spots that see spray, washdowns, or heavy condensation.
Key features
- Surface enclosure sized for two 8000 Series standard modules (2-module format).
- IP40 rating for basic protection from solid objects, with no water ingress protection.
- Ivory finish in RAL 7035 for a consistent look with matching modular components.
- Overall dimensions around 6.8 x 9.3 x 5.6 cm to fit cleanly on bulkheads and cabinetry.
- Plastic, insulating enclosure body for non-metallic mounting in mixed onboard environments.
Compatibility and fit
This enclosure is intended for installations using two 8000 Series standard modules. Before ordering, confirm your devices are the standard 8000 module format and that the planned mounting surface has enough flat area for the enclosure footprint and enough clearance for cable bend radius behind the module space.
Installation and setup
Mount the enclosure to a solid, flat surface and route conductors so they are supported and protected from chafe. After the enclosure is fixed in place, fit the compatible modular hardware and devices for your 2-module layout, then finish with the matching front components used in your 8000 system.
Use on board
This style of surface enclosure is a practical choice for refits and for fiberglass or composite interiors where cutting a recessed opening is not desired. It is commonly used for mounting switches, outlets, or control modules on cabin bulkheads, inside lockers, and at nav or helm stations that stay dry.
Maintenance and care
Wipe the enclosure with a damp cloth and mild soap, and avoid harsh solvents that can dull plastics. As part of routine onboard checks, confirm the enclosure remains firmly fastened and that wiring inside stays tidy and strain-relieved to handle vibration.
