Overview
The Vimar VM13045 is an IP40 surface-mount enclosure that holds 4 Idea modules or 4 8000 special modules, finished in RAL 7035 grey.
Its standard dimensions are 136 x 56 x 83 mm, and it is supplied with 4 adaptors (08491) for installing 8000 standard modules.
On a boat, it is a clean way to add a small group of Vimar modular devices on a bulkhead or inside a console when you do not want to cut in a recessed box. IP40 is for dry, protected locations, so it belongs inside the cabin, under a hardtop, or in other sheltered areas rather than places that see washdowns or direct spray.

- Captive cross-slotted stainless steel screws to help prevent lost hardware during wiring work

What’s included
- IP40 surface-mount enclosure (grey, RAL 7035)
- 4 x adaptor 08491 for 8000 standard module mounting
Compatibility and fit
This enclosure is sized for Vimar Idea modular devices up to 4 modules wide and for Vimar 8000 special modules. The included adaptors allow the same box to be used with 8000 standard modules when that format is part of the installation.
Because it is surface-mounted, it is a practical option on fiberglass liners, thin panels, and refit locations where there is limited depth for a recessed box. Confirm the available space for the enclosure depth and for conductor bend radius before drilling.
Installation and setup
Mount the enclosure to a flat surface, route conductors through the provided knockouts, and use appropriate glands or bushings so the cable jacket is protected and strain relief is handled cleanly. A drip loop on any incoming cable helps keep incidental moisture from tracking into the wiring area.
The IP40 rating assumes the installation is completed with the enclosure closed and with suitable cable or conduit entries. When the installed device has an open front, such as a socket outlet, the protection at the front of the device is lower than IP40, but it is not lower than IP20.
Where it fits on board
This is a good match for interior switch groups at the nav station, at a cabin entry, inside lockers, or on a protected helm console where surface mounting keeps the job simple and avoids cutting into finished panels.
If your mounting location is exposed to spray, rain, or routine washdowns, plan for a higher ingress protection enclosure rather than an IP40 box.
